Retired Navy here. Just be in shape, able to breath and see. Be of sound mind and able to do push-ups, sit-ups and run the mile and a half in the allotted amount of time for your age when and if you get in. Unlike the Army or the Marines, the Navy physical is not all that hard. Oh by the way, also be drug free.

Are you sure you want to do this...

let me ask you again...

are you sure...

I ask because it was not a job...and it damn sure wasn't an adventure...!!!

But since you must learn some of the harder lessons in life for yourself...

Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA)

All Navy-option Candidates will take the PFA. This test consists of 4 parts: Toe touch (seated), push ups, sit ups, and a 1.5 mile run. To calculate your overall score, add your score from all three events and divide by 3.

Example: 21 year-old male

Pushups: 62 = 65 points

Situps: 75 = 65 points

Run: 9min 25sec = 80 points

Overall Score = 210/3 = 70 points = good high

and make sure you are drug free for at least 90 days before you go in. There are no chemicals you can buy that will flush drugs fromyour system...the night before...the week before...and so on. The tests are way too sophisticated for such nonsense to work...

the navy has a no-tolerance drug policy. That was from 1988 when I went in. It's even worse now.

Anchors away Ricky...

you'll find out what that means shortly...

Well, you need all the usual body parts plus a core body temperature of 98º to 99º and breath in the body.

It also helps if you can pass the IQ tests, but with the lowering of standards in the Military these days, that's a whole lot easier than it was a couple of years ago.
