We lived in a huge log cabin mansion with gates and other stuff like that. Our new house is just like that but it isn't a log cabin, it is just a huge house with vinyl siding. And my chihuahua is usually the friendliest dog ever, but now he is shy. We moved in 2 weeks ago and I walked him outside the block the other day. Someone came up and asked if they could pet him and I let them. Then my dog started barking and hiding and usually he tries to jump up and he licks people and lets them hold and pet him. Do you know why he would be doing this?

P.S. I have a cat and she is acting just fine.

Some animals take a longer time to adapt to a new environment then others.
You have to remember that you just moved them to a whole new place with a new layout, new people, new trees, new everything. Once your dog has realized that this is his new place, he will start asserting himself and marking his territory.

Dogs are territorial. Your new house is not yet his territory. He will feel a little uneasy until decides that your new house is his new territory.
