I have been smoking a good part of 20 years. More on than off and I'm only 35. I am using the gum, drinking water and exercising more to fight the weird feeling of wanting to jump out of my skin.

How long does it take until this feeling goes away? I don't like it, but it's better than smoking cigarettes. I feel like I don't smell like sheet all the time, my hair smells nice, I don't feel like an outcast in a restaurant, I can get close to my boyfriend without feeling like I'm reeking of nicotine, oh the list goes on and on about how good I feel and it hasn't even been a week.

Thanks!!

Eat carrots, go for a bike ride, take a walk, eat celery, do some gardening, go to the museum, eat sunflower seeds, make a phone call...do anything you can that avoids the idea that it's time for a smoke.

And good for YOU by the way.
Keep up the great effort.

Then the only thing you can do to stop you going totally crazy is to write out that list and all the other good things you perosnally feel from being off the smokes and stick it on your fridge, in you car and anywhere else you go often... it'll keep you sane dear.

Oh and Good Luck, wish I had your willpower!!! ;-)

First of all....CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's awesome!!!!

Drink a lot of water, it helps you stay full, sometimes when you are hungry our body's mistake it for a cig craving. Chewing gum also helps.

GOOD LUCK.....You can do it!!!! Buy yourself something nice with the money you'll be saving!

I tried the gum and didn't like it too much and found that the patch helped me considerably more with the physical withdrawals. Doing exercise and drinking more water will definitely help you out but perhaps you should try taking up hobbies or other things that keep your mind preoccupied from thinking about smoking. It's a very hard habit to break but I do promise you that as time passes it DOES get easier. Another thing that I strongly recommend is trying to keep away from activities, people, and things that might trigger you to want to smoke. My ex-husband kept smoking during the time I quit and he made sure not to smoke anywhere near me, not even outside of our home. After awhile, he was able to come back but it also makes things considerably better when you have people supporting your decision to quit. Good luck to you and congratulations on making it this far...I think so long as you keep doing everything that you are doing now, that it will get easier and those withdrawals will eventually cease to exist...

Good for You, keep it up! One day at a time. You just named some reasons to help yourself not go crazy, smelling good etc.
I wish I could give you some more tips.
