Technically, the Al-Aqsa mosque is where Solomon's/Herod's Temple once sat. Because that spot there is where God wanted the Temple to be built, they can't rebuild until the Al-Aqsa mosque is gone (which, BTW, may not take much... one good earthquake in the area could topple it, since it's in such a decrepit state of repair).
On top of that, Muslims seek to deny the Jews any rights to the Holy Land, and hence any excavations done in the area that result in Jewish artifacts tend to be destroyed. They claim that they were there first, and despite the numerous artifacts that have turned up proving that they were there first, they get whitewashed with "Zionist conspiracy" labels.
If the Jews did decide to rebuild the Temple, there would wind up being a HUGE Jewish-Muslim war... (and what I find ironic, is that Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran nor the Hadith. The closest mention is that, in essence, Muhammed went to a mosque in the east after all his prophetic work was done. Somehow, along the way, this was assumed to be Jerusalem... despite the fact that there was neither mosque nor Temple in Jerusalem at the time, and only a handful of churches and lesser temples in the region).
They also await a prophetic sign, that of a flawless red bull being born in Jerusalem, that is, one without a single hair of any other color, until the time it is a year old. They cannot begin until this bull is born.

The Jewish temple will NEVER be rebuilt. The New Temple is already rebuilt. Jesus said, He would rebuild the temple in THREE days. He was speaking of His resurrection and the temple of God being "within you." He fufilled the purpose of the Old Law of Moses along with the Temple and all the sacrifices, on the cross, by becoming the perfect sacrifice for sin. This sacrifice eliminated the need for Jewish religion. The temple was then physically destroyed in AD 70. The new temple is within YOU.
There were many things which occurred outside the Temple when the nation of Israel divided into two kingdoms, Israel or the northern 10 tribes, and Judah, the southern two tribes of Judah and Benjamin. Israel took to sacrificing on mountains, etc, because they had no access to Jersualem. The set up two cities to take the place of Jerusalem, but God condemned them for worshipping outside the Temple. Later He divorced Himself from all of Israel, preserving Judah because the Messiah would spring forth from the tribe of Judah. So, you see, the idea of sacrifices outside of the temple was a common thing after the division.

Sacrafice in New Testament is an abomination and you cannot be forgiven by blood sacrafice only by asking and seeking forgiveness. This is why the next temple will have the antichrist in attendence and the sacrafice will begin again.
God desire's love, justice, and mercy.
Not sacraficial offering. If you notice the only time Jesus got angry was when the money changers were selling things in the temple and cheating the people.

they can't rebuild the Temple because the Muslim Mosque called the Dome of the Rock is there at this time. Sacrifices should be done at the Temple....that's why people traveled long distances to get there.

Sacrifices were in the cultures of many in those days. It is no longer done, as people progressed.
The Temple cannot be rebuilt as Islam holy places stand there now. And, to destroy someone's holy place for your own use is unforgivable.
