There's an excellent Thai/Eastern restaurant in Surbiton - it is right next door to Waitrose. (Just to the left of the main Waitrose entrance). Bah, I can't recall the name of it right now, but it's very good. Beware the dishes marked "hot and spicy" - they aren't kidding. It's cooked by people who really are Thai!
