The Quaran is only authorative in Arabic. In any other language, the Quaran is unoficial and unsutible for doctrine. Consider the implications of this. Only 30 percent of all Muslims worlwide are literate, and of these fewer still can read classical Arabic. This means that the vast majority of Muslims, well above 70 percent, cannot read the book that created their religion. It also means for them Islam is what their leaders say it is. .(Parsley)

Quran is revealed in ARABIC so its every ones duty to learn the language because for worldly gain we are sending our children o learn English , French, Chinese and so on, then why don't we try to learn the quranic language. for example: could you like to call your name translated in any other language which give the same meaning, am sure u will not. and if u translate the English song to any other language does it have the same effect, i am sure it will not....that's y we have to learn the language to understand better. HOPE u understand the point.

This is an interesting, and probably a fair point (though if you have a source for the 30% figure, I'd be interested to see it), but perhaps only if we acknowledge that the same is true for many religious books - Quran, Old and New Testaments of the Bible etc...if true meanings and emphases were lost in translation, let alone interpretation, it would certainly explain the use of books of faith as the basis for hate, suffering and war when used by those with their own agendas throughout history.

belief in islam doesn't simply consist of reading the quran. it is written in arabic and all other languages with transliteration. It must be recited in arabic and no other language. it has translation as well BUT in order to follow the islamic faith one must also follow the ways of the Pr. Muhammad PBUH and that is through what is called Hadith and Sunnah, Fiqh Al-Sunnah, etc....also you don't have to read it to attain the knowledge. a person can go to scholars or to the mosque to learn. furthermore the first muslims weren't all literate either. The Quran wasn't written until shortly after the death of the Prophet Muhammad ASW therefore it was taught verbally. You do know that people can learn that way as well..Finally, not all non-muslims are literate either therefore attacking this religion based on your own ignorance only shows the deeper problem that this world has.

I would like to know how you can say 30% of Muslims are literate...you might be suprised to know that only 17% of Muslims live in the Middle East. Can I please see your source as to the literacy of almost 2 billion people world wide.

though quran is in arabic and it is also true that true essence of quran can be understood only in arabic but it is not like that that one cannot understand the message of quran thru its translatiions, this is bcoz quran itself says in chapter 54, verse no.32 that "indeed, we have made it easier to read , remember and understand"
so my dear friend, one should try to learn arabic but he cant then still he can understand the guidance of the almighty thru its translations.
for those who do not read quran with understanding, they are in loss.,
