Have you tried Nylabone toys?Try these: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=352&N=2001+113966 - you should check out the Hercules bones on that website, too. Also, go to a farm supply (or tack) store & check out (in the horse section) a Jolly Ball. It is a big thick rubber ball with a handle on it. My sisters Lab mix has done well with that, and he chews up most anything, too. The tires as toys are a semi-good idea: steel belts can be dangerous in regular auto tires. I suggest stopping at a lawn tractor repair shop & asking if they can give you an old, worn rubber lawn tractor tire they have replaced. The size would be better for a 12 pound dog, too.

Sounds like the 'terrier' mixed in your dog is a Jack Russell - am I right?

My yorkie is about 9 lbs. and I realized when he was young that they did not make "pet toys" strong enough. Having said that I buy him beenie babies by the bag full at stores for usually $1-$2.00 and he has yet to destroy one. I got tired of spending $8 on a dog toy that he ruined in a few hours. The great thing about YOUR dog? He is chewing his toys and not your house/furniture/shoes etc. Be glad. And limit him to one new toy every week or two. I bring my dogs "new" toy when I bring in groceries. He sits calmly while I un-load and waits on his treat!

I agree with w.b. Something made of solid, hard rubber might work. Excessive chewing and tearing in the home can be a sign of boredom. Exercise him more (chase the ball, etc.) and try wearing him out a few times a day. Also, garden hoses aregreat chew toys - you can cut them up and have plenty of spares around. You can get them cheap at a dollar store. Good luck and hide your shoes!!!

As a child we gave our terrier a old bicycle tyre to chew on its a great toy and will give a lot of fun to the both of you. Just make shure that its safe and has no object like wire sticking out that can damage you dogs mouth also check this tire regularly, to make sure it can not hurt your dog. Enjoy, I know he will have fun.

I thought a Kong was indestructible too, but I have a dog like yours - he destroyed his Kong and he destroys his other toys. We gave up trying to protect the toys, but we can extend their lives by playing with them together. When he starts getting "medieval" on one of his toys, we take it from him and throw it around. He keeps retrieving it and bringing it back. We both get plenty of exercise doing this and the toys last a bit longer.
Good luck.

Don't keep buying toys he can destroy! Get him rawhide bones..he can actually eat them without swallowing something harmful..and it'll keep him busy for a little while..My lab/hound mix destroyed everything in sight for at least the first 5 yrs of his life..We also would buy him rope tug toys, which lasted a little longer than plastic or rubber toys-just make sure he doesn't try to eat the rope:) I would definitely try rawhide or real bone-and give him LOTs of exercise! Destroying things is a sure sign of excess energy and boredom....

certain, I had this problem and that i have been given what changed into referred to as a Bully Boy. that's a bite produced from the erctile tissue in a bulls reproductive organs. for sure, the dogs loved it and in the 365 days I actual have had it he hasn't been in a position to do a lot to damage it. I actual have pasted a link below for something with a diverse call, notwithstanding it type of feels to be a similar difficulty:

our lab destroys his toys too.....
that's what they're for!!!!
i pick up his carnage off the floor and i am just thankful that it's peices of his toys and not our furniture or our baby's things.

have you tried looking online for discount pet toys, or even wal-mart?? we've gotten some decent toys at wal-mart.
we got him this tire bone that is still going strong. he gets bits and pieces off it all the time, but it's lasting a while. i think it may have been 1-2 dollars.

that's wild about him demolishing the black kong!!! our guy hasn't even done that!!!! ....yet:)

i would just be thankful he doesn't tear apart your house and keep buying those toys! also, you can make pet toys...check some websites out for this.

take care and good luck!

We got our dog a bowling ball from a garage sale. She pushed it all over the yard yelping and yipping and growling at it. She LOVED that thing! We'd say "Shellie, go get your ball!" And she'd roll it out from where ever it was and push it over to us to "bowl" accross the lawn for her. She could never get a hold of it to chew it up. She had it for twelve years. She died several years ago, but I still have the ball in my garden as a keepsake.

So get a used childs bowling ball for your dog, and sit back and watch the fun. Terriers are tenacious!

MORE AND MORE!!!!! Buy lots and lots and lots of toys!!!!! My dog does the same thing but if u want a toy that is nirly indistructable buy a rope!!. My dog loves his rope we always play tuggle war and it i still have it!! In the case that ur going broke try and teach ur dog the word "gently" so that when he is chewing on a toy he'll be more gentle.
