For the past few months I have been dieting and doing Tae-Bo every morning. It's working well. I fell down the stairs yesterday morning and now I am in a full leg brace and on crutches for at least a week. I'm going to keep dieting but I can't work out! Any ideas on how I can keep the wieght coming off? Diet pills and supplements are out.

denxxchu and Kekens, I am already dieting and it's working. How am I going to "walk" or "dance" when I can't put any wieght on my leg?

First of all, keep to a daily exercise regimen of some sort. That's the most important thing because it sounds like you had great momentum, and staying with an exercise plan is the hardest part of losing weight. Okay, first get some hand weights, relatively heavy such as 10+ pounds each. Start lifting weights with your arms to continue building muscle. Look online for specific exercises. Rotate them. Push your arms HARD. Do three sets of 15 for each exercise. Make sure the weights are heavy enough that you can barely do your last five. But alternate every other day to give your muscles the 'rebuilding' time or it'll be counterproductive. Next, consume a lot of water every day. Just because you're not being as active doesn't mean to stop drinking water. You don't want to swell up or gain water weight from being dehydrated. Next, as soon as your doctor says you can get out of your leg brace, find a place to swim every day. Swimming is the best workout for people who aren't as mobile. It uses so many body muscles, especially the core, so you will continue to lose weight, by both building muscle and cardio. One additional note: If your metabolism was already up because of your Tae-Bo you will continue to lose weight automatically for the next six weeks or so, without much effort. But if you don't lift weights and do swimming cardio, you'll start to see the effects of being inactive in about two months. BTW, don't increase your food AT ALL! If anything, just eat smaller meals (what you would think of as a snack), five or six times a day. Maybe reduce calories down to about 1200 a day while you're healing and being less active. Hope this helps!

There's a great suggestion - hand weights! I lost the most weight I ever had with strength training - it's fabulous.
If I were you, I certainly wouldn't reduce your calories down to 1200, or anything near that - I had to eat MORE to lose weight, and I think it's true for most people, if they don't want to gain it back. (check out www.fitday.com for calories required). Eat good quality protein, lots of fruits and veggies, and stay away from vegetable oils and soy. Remember, your body needs nutrients to heal, too - lots of people today get sick and stay sick because they're not eating enough, or eating tons of junk food.

This happened to me, only I was out of commission for 6 months.
You might want to try things such as push-ups and crunches. If you shoot for high reps (15+) then that is your cardio.
Oh and P.S.
I hope you feel better, Knee problems are a pain. I KNOW!

Thank you for staying away from diet pills. Those will seriously mess you up.
But yeah, crunches would be good. If you can, lift weights!

Do stomach crunches and semi-push-ups (push up the top half of your body off the floor).
