I love Hispanic culture and have many friends.....even ILLEGAL hispanics....I am in no way racist towards this kind. Is it possible for me to be anti-illegal and feel this way about these people at the same time or does that just not compute in your brains? Call me whatever you want. I will stand my ground.

Pro-illegals scream racism because there is no other way to defend the criminal or deflect opinion away from the crime. It is a generations old Mexican institution to invade America with their poor and un-educated. Your statement, you don't dislike the people, only what they do??? I call you illogical and standing on shaky ground .

Yes, you can be against “illegal” immigration and not be racist towards Mexicans, and no one should hold that against you. They are two completely different issues. The people screaming racism….are those reading all the racist remarks that are being made. Clearly Racist! Have you read them? Like I have said before…. Stick to the Issue….if you want to make a point about “illegal” immigration…..make it …. Leave out the racist remarks. Because you can say they are not being made……but they ARE! And Betty, aren’t you the one talking about kicking the Mexicans A**?

Yes it is very possible. I too have Illegal friends and am half mexican myself. But on the other hand I am scared to see this country destroyed. I usually try not to take sides and keep a clear head about the situation. But every once and a while somebody says something that makes me agree and it is usually the anti illegals. But not always. Don't feel bad. It is possible to see logic in something without totally letting it overcome you. If that made sense. What I'm saying is you are not a bad person or friend for agreeing with some of the anti illegal views.

I am also not racist. As a citizen of color (Black), I don't think that not wanting illegal immigrants, no matter what race is racism. I think it has to do with the security of this country and the preservation of tax payer rights. Illegals are a huge drain on the system.

Many use government services and don't pay taxes. Any children regardless of immigration status can be educated in the US. This leads to overcrowding and poorer standards for citizens. Once educated through high school, they can't go to college without being US citizens or legal immigrants. So now you have many people with just a high school education and no chance of a college education. I don't know about the rest of the US, but high school diplomas don't go far here in Atlanta!

I know that this is going to piss a lot of people off, but I think the US should rethink the birthright of citizenship. Many people who come to the US know that once they have a child on US soil that he/she is a legal citizen...Enough said!

Now with that said, people need to understand that the Civil Rights movement should not be compared to Illegal Immigration. We were citizens fighting for our legal rights under the Constitution of the United States. Illegal Immigrants don't and should not have the same rights.

Legal Immigrants should never be deprived of their rights! If people want to come to the US legally, I am all for it. But it must be done legally.

I'm not as racist as the Mexicans that want to take over a part of the southwestern US and rename it AZtlan,I'm not saying get out to all Mexicans like they are saying about all whites.I'm not going to Mexico and burning the Mexican flag and placing the US flag above theirs the way they have done here in the USA countless times.I don't support any illegal aliens from anywhere .I will fight it with everything I have ,I will not ever again turn the other cheek. And to you white pro supporters ,when they are through using you they will get rid of you too .They don't like you, they like what you can do for them.My place is well fortified and protected.I live in AZ and I am not leaving and no other flag will ever be raised above this country. You are only fooling your selves with that ignorance. I am not an alarmist or a nut case, nor are my friends and neighbors ,some of who are of Mexican heritage but they too will fight for their country and that is America not Aztlan....I am not an alarmist as I said but I am a realist....

Sure you can like them but disagree with the way they came here. They are people and most of them are actually nice too but they don;t have the right in come here as they do. So yes you can be anti-illegal and have some as friends and admire the culture.

No, Betty, you have every right to your opinion and although I love to bait the gringo racists which I find so many of on this site, I agree that the US has every right to guard its borders. Most Mexicans in Mexico agree with this too, in fact most Mexicans legally in the US actually agree with YOU.

But most of those yelling so vocally on the web ARE in fact raving, flaming racists who HATE Mexicans and indeed ALL foreigners and probably all minorities, "colored" etc.

If you are "anti-illegal" that's one thing, fair enough, If you are anti-Mexican then I am going to call you what you are, a racist!

I'm not a racist person by any means, but I do think it's unacceptable for them to fly their flag above ours and say it's their country.... Not to mention, one of my best friends was stabbed to death last week by a group of Mexicans over a game of pool. He was captain of the basketball team in high school, prom king, voted most likely to succeed.... All taken away from him because of a cowardly group of illegal immigrants. *Not saying ALL Mexicans are like that, but it all comes down to your culture that is distilled in you growing up-- in their country they fight to the death, they stab, they kill..... If they want to be accepted in our country and treated as an equal, they need to start acting in a civilized manner, abide by our laws, and learn our language. I don't think we need to provide accommodation for them when we are graciously sharing our country with all races and cultures-- if I moved to Mexico I highly doubt they would learn English for me. For the Mexicans that actually do try hard to get their citizenship, I am 100% for it.... but as most of us know, most Mexicans have no intention of gaining citizenship here and we can't keep letting it go on-- people that aren't even CITIZENS in our own country get away with waaaay more than a lifelong citizen of the United States. If I get pulled over for speeding, I get a speeding ticket. If they get pulled over, can't speak a bit of English, have no proof of citizenship-- you know what the police do?? NOTHING!! There are so many of them now that they would rather let them go then take the time to have them deported! The people that killed my friend-- you know what their punishment is?? They're getting deported. They were illegal anyways, who's to say they won't come right back?? They will never know how wonderful my friend was, how he loved making people laugh, how much he will truly be missed.... and they'll never be punished for it. Tomorrow I will go look at my 27 year old friend laying in a coffin because of a fight over a pool game. I am a very loving and understanding person, but in the past year I have slowly lost all of the sympathy I once had for the hispanic culture. The majority of people in this country are now against hispanic immigration, when at one time we were more than willing to help them. I am very understanding about your thoughts, as I hope you are understanding to mine.....

Immigration in the U.S. in the beginning was not a difficult process. Illegals were not severely punished or even deported. They paid a fine and were allowed to stay. Now there are severe restrictions on the number of people allowed to come legally.

Our country is doing extremely well economically in spite of millions of illegal immigrants from Mexico supposedly stealing Americans' jobs and sapping our welfare system. If we stop them from coming, it could slow our economy down. Many Mexican immigrants come to start their own businesses and are often very successful. The birth rate of Mexican-Americans falls with every succeeding generation, so even arguments that the Mexicans are going to overrun us with sheer numbers are weak.

What do you want to do about illegals who married Americans? Do you want to deport them and break up families?

I'm with you Betty. I feel the same way. Calling me a racist because I am against illegal entry of any kind coming into this country, is ignorant and childish. It will never change because that is their only retort. My grandchildred have a Mexican father. I love them all dearly, I am not a racist. Don't let them get to you. If anyone is racist, they are.
