Do bear in mine you get male air stewards too! The same very rough guidelines apply to them.

There are no specific height or weight prerequisites for an air hostess and these would depend on each individual airline. As regards the height requirement, generally airlines seem to be looking for applicants who are about 1.6m tall. The weight requirement is not one where there is a specific weight noted - instead the airlines seem to favour candidates where there is a sensible balance between height and weight. (Not a stick-thin unhealthy person)

An easy way to find out what a specific airline wants is to apply for a job - the person specifics should tell you what they want in physical appearance.

Do bear in mind an airline would want an air steward to be able to speak another language if they are flying to other countries too - it isn't *entirely* about appearance.

They used to way back when. In the 60's and 70's they were esentially all model types. Since the late 80s early 90s they kinda let anyone in who wants to. I have seen all shapes , sizes and looks in the past few years. I dont think they really would discriminate based on looks , these days they would probably have a major lawsuit on their hands. However, it may be possible that for saftey reason they have to be agile enough to move around alot.. so that would probably mean people that are too fat would not make the cut.

Yes, there are height and weight restrictions. The company my sister works for has a max height of 5-8 and the uniforms are basically one size fits all, so you have to be able to get into it.

There used to be a lot of restrictions/requirements etc. to be an airhostess. Now that we are politically correct I have seen a lot of fat, ugly.bitchy ones

I don't know the weight exactly but I do know that there is some truth to what you have heard. They have to have a certain "look" about them.
