I don't believe so. If you eat a regular scheduled diet your body will not store food and your metabolism will not slow down. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and had to eat 6 times a day.. healthy foods of course.. and I lost weight in my pregnancy. It really helps to eat 3 meals a day and small snacks in between. I'm not an expert, just speaking from personal experience :D

In my opinion, I think that skipping at least one meal a day is not healthy weight loss. The reason I say this is because the body must establish a nutritious balance meal each day in order to stay healthy, also to prevent the risk of creating heath problems. In my opinion, I think that in order for the digestive system and intestate to work properly one must feed the body healthy food. In other words, skipping at least one meal a day is not healthy to weight loss. However, reducing the amount of a meal a day will probably be more healthy in contributing to weight loss. Remember the old saying "an apple a day help keep the doctor away. Have you had your apple to day? Smile. Accumulate

A lot of people are responding that skipping the meal will slow your metabolism and put your body into starvation mode. I agree that, in the long run, this is bound to happen.

Another immediate concern is that if you are restricting (skipping meals, cutting out calories), you are setting yourself up to eventually binge. This will cause weight GAIN. The best way to lose weight is to eat sensibly, and exercize. Don't try to lose or gain weight too quickly, as it's not healthy.

No. Its better to eat 6 small meals. Breakfast being the most important. Drink plenty of water and walk at least 4 to 5 times a week. It works. I've weighed the same for the last 5 years by doing this and I'm never hungry.

Quite the opposite, in fact.
Numerous studies have shown that skipping a meal lets you get overly hungry and results in more overall eating.

You are much better off going to 5 meals a day, than 2. Healthy snacking has been shown to ward off hunger better and result in an overall lower calorie consumption. Plus- you don't get hungry.

No, because your body will go into 'starvation mode'; your metabolism will slow down, which means you won't burn the calories very quickly. It will also mean that you will be very hungry when you do eat, so will end up eating more than usual, A little and often is what you should be aiming for, rather than eating large amounts in one go.. Start with a healthy breakfast, don't skip lunch, but keep it light, and for dinner cut down on your normal portions. The snacks in between should be fruit and/or veg.

Total calorie intake versus exercise is the answer. Some people lightly snack throughout the day to prevent hunger binging, some people eat three meals a day. The whole point is to modify your eating habits to decrease the overall amount of calories. Notice I did not say diet. Dieting is a sham. A commercial answer to the American quick fix mentality. Weight doesn't stay off after dieting because dieting is temporary. Only permanent adjustments to your eating habits will yield long term, lasting results. And don't expect things to change over night. It took time to gain the weight, it will take time to lose. But if you really change your eating habits, the weight will come off and stay off.

No!

But gee, it would be nice if it would, huh? I always have problems eating breakfact - so I wish that was the miracle cure!

Several things helped me to lose weight - eating well (and a lot MORE than I was eating before), counting calories to make sure I was getting enough, and exercise. I started lifting weights as well as doing cardio - not only does it burn fat fast, but it was so empowering!

Check out www.fitday.com to get your calories required per day, and Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon - it should be at your local library.

the experts say no - you should eat 3 meals per day - you're better off eating your heavier meal in the middle of the day & then not eating anything at all after 7:30 pm. and exercise every day - reduce your carb intake - i did that and lost 20 lbs. in about 2 mos. & feel fantastic.
