first u decide whether it is love or lust.
if lust just enjoy seeing the girl.
if love don't tell her in the beginning.
u try to have friendship with her.
and try to be so close with her.
if u r confident about her then only tell her u love her.
but don't be late in expressing.
i have the same feeling in my first yr of engineering and i did the same. now we r great lovers i am in 4th yr now and going to marry.

ok at night go to the nearest liquor store and buy some rum. In the morning before you get to school get some coffee mix in the rum and chug it down. It will relax you and allow you to be more upfront with her.
Note: do not drink the whole bottle of rum coz then you'll just end up looking like an drunk.

Oh, please don't "write her a love letter." What a copout. "Very shy" means "very weak." Get some guts and some character, and ask her out.
