How about Niagara Falls for the fun part and Niagara on the Lake for the romantic part? (Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake are about 25 minutes apart)
Niagara Falls has lots of fun stuff - a casino, jet boat rides, maid of the mist, Hardrock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, that sort of thing.
Niagara on the Lake has lots of wineries, spas & plays at the Shaw festival. It would be about a 4-6 hour drive depending on your starting point in Ohio, you don't need a passport. Niagara on the Lake is a beautiful place anytime of year but especially fall.

With just three days, I doubt you want to spend most of it traveling. I suggest camping. Whether it's in a motorhome or a tent, you may be able to find a not-so-busy lake near you, and camp on a two track. Just the two of you for a night swim or a daytime hike around the lake, I think is romantic. I've spent some weekends with boyfriends at lakes. It's nice, not expected, and you don't have to deal with people, unless you want to. Good luck, have fun.

Since I'm not sure where you are located at, here a few places that are in my area. Chicago / New York - they have so much to offer from site seeing to dinner & a movie. Niagara Falls. Poconos. Mackinac Island. If it's too much money, try looking into bed and breakfast places around your area. Usually there are things to do in that area. Hope this helps!

Depending on where you live and how far you want to travel and $ you are capable of spending....... look into bed & breakfasts, they are usually very clean and romantic and with breakfast included, you don't have to worry about getting up too early, you get a sitting choice of breakfast time, and it's very personable, and no large crowds like normal hotel/motels.

Napa Valley, California.
Where are you located?
I don't know what's near Ohio, but if you two are in-love, or are falling in-love, any getaway together will feel romantic. Enjoy!

Check out AANR.com. Locate the clubs in your area and see if they have accommodations. It's VERY relaxing, friendly and definitely not ordinary. I suggest Paradise Lakes or Caliente north of Tampa. And Affordable.
