1) In Europe most refrigerators are small so people have to go grocery shopping every day or every other day which means that they do a lot of walking to and from the store. And their food is fresh. Most of their buildings are older and they do not have elevators in them so they have to walk up stairs. Europeans make eating an event. They enjoy themselves and each other. They have long lunches. Wine is served at several meals. (Their teenage alcoholism is higher then the US.)
2) Fast food is a new for Europeans so now their children are getting fat too.

We currently don't have a McDonalds in Ghana. But I don't think Mcdonalds is solely to blame for pple being fat.Lack of exercise and personal control is also part of the problem.

Obesity is a "growing" problem ALL OVER THE WORLD. Yes, it is worse in the US (and Canada) than elsewhere, but it is a recognized health crisis everywhere.
Did you know, there are more people who are obese than hungry? For the first time in world history, more people are suffering from the problems of too much food than from not enough!! (AMAZING!!)

it's our culture of fast food, driving everywhere, sedentary activites like the internet and video games. for instance in many european cultures, people walk to the corner grocery a couple times a week and buy fresh food. canned, pre-prepared, and fast food is not so prevalent, nor is driving everywhere.
