the sweets that you put in a dispenser, all different ones,you pull the top back and a sweet pops out,were these ever called tabs??

I think different area's have there own nicknames for stuff
we used to always call them tabs

No, always Pez as far as I know. A 'tab' is slang for acid....I hope you're not getting confused!
