Printing on dark colours is not easy to do at home. The correct way to do it is silk-screen printing but that involves some (fairly simple) equipment and the means of making a stencil.

You can buy transfer sheets which you can put through an ink-jet printer and then iron on to the fabric but they work best on light or white teeshirts because the film you iron on to the fabric is transparent (or you can now buy a white film for dark fabrics but that is still like having a sheet of white paper with the printing on it stuck to a dark shirt!).

If you want a really professional look, there is no alternative to a professional t-shirt printer - and, of course, you have to pay for that!

There are at least two very good places on the web which produce some really stunning results which you design yourself.

http://www.zazzle.com
http://www.cafepress.com

There are instructions on both sites on how to produce an image which they can print on a t-shirt. You do, of course, have to buy the shirt from them, but their prices are not bad and the more you order, the cheaper it becomes!

If you want to do it on what you have already, then perhaps you can find a t-shirt printer locally who would do it for you. Otherwise painting by hand (using white emulsion or white fabric paint - make sure that it will work on BLACK) or embroidery - either by hand or machine - would be the answer.

If you need help with the design, I should be glad to have a look at what you want and see what I could do (contact on my profile).

If u want it to look really cool , i would suggest that you buy a hot stencil and use fabric paint to print the words on the shirt.

Whatever u do do not use a marker it will make the shirt look unappealing and cheap

Use a pen for fabric and a stencil - you can get that at any craft store. That way the words are more uniform if you like that look.

I stenciled on an outfit for a teddy bear that way and it turned out pretty good. I used a silver pen on navy blue.

sharpie or pen.

If you have a little bit more time, go and buy a fabric pen in a store. If you want the letters really big you may want to buy fabric paint and a brush instead of a pen.

There are several options, most of which can be obtained at craft stores:

1- fabric paint or pens
2- iron-on transfers
3- masking tape (if the message need not be permanent)

Someone will definatley answer this better than me, but I believe that they sell computer programs for this. You can design what you want on the computer and I think it prints out onto a kind of paper that you can then iron onto your clothes. A store that sells computer programs could definately help you.

You could always go to a store that personalizes clothing. Usually a sporting goods store that does team names, etc

You can buy iron-on paper and find something that you like. You can make it in to anything you want, and click "print reverse for iron-on" or something like that, then when it's done printing, just iron it on. Wash it inside out lightly and lay it flat to dry. Also, if it doesn't show up, I don't know what to tell you.
