"God" leaves it to us to understand and care for those in terrible pain. We are "God."

Yes, I think He does, if the people know Him when they are depressed they cry out to Him, because they know how much He loves them and wants to bring them out of it. Read the Psalms, for example, a few of them sound so hopeless and then they say, I know I will see good, or they argue with God, and say what good am I dead? It shows everyone has some bad times, and sometimes that's a comfort, knowing that other people made it through okay. What is pitiful are the ones who don't know our Saviour, they don't have any hope to look forward to. At least we know we will have a happy ending.

Carl, when Jesus came to earth in the form of a man, He knew what it was like to live in the world, the pressures and priorities of the world. He lived in the world, but He also knew that He needed to take time out to renew His strength. This was done through spending time with God the Father. Christ had peace, and through Him we can have that peace too. It doesn't mean that all our problems will suddenly go away, but it does mean that we have a better way to cope with the situations that we find ourselves in. You're no less of a person if you struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. If people were honest, most I believe would agree that there have been times when they too have been in tough times and these things would have affected them too. It's not a sin to have those thoughts either. My advice, rest in God's perfect peace, take time out, and take things a bit slower. God peace will guard your heart and give you the strength you need for every situation you find yourself in, and the wisdom and clarity to know what your next step would be.

Yes, he does. For one thing, he is a God of love (1 John 4:8)
The real crime is not to recognize when you need help and to act upon that need, not by giving in to it, but by fighting it and reaching out to someone who can help.
There are many prayers in the bible that reflect that same depressed feeling.
That does NOT mean that someone should take their life. But, that they should reach out to him in their time of need. I am living proof that he builds up those who are depressed.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 tells the older ones in the congregation to (among other things) 'speak consolingly to the depressed souls.'
James 5:13-15 tells those who are depressed, sick, undergoing tribulation, that they should go to the older ones and let them pray with them.
So reach out to someone, whether it is to those you respect, or to those trained to deal with depression.
If you are suffering depression and need to talk about it, click on my contact button. I have been there and would be glad to help, if I can. (I am talking about serious depression, not just feeling low today)

Yes, God understands.
In order for suicide to be considered a mortal sin that completely separates us from the love of God, a person must know that suicide is wrong and be able to freely chose to kill himself or herself.
A person suffering from depression is not capable of making free choices. He or she is being controlled by mental illness and is not making rational decisions. A person suffering from depression is not in control of his or her actions and is not responsible for his or her actions, including suicide.
At the same time, it is our moral obligation to seek medical attention for any illness we have. If a person with depression is on medication and decides to go off medication and then commits suicide after slipping into depression, there is still some sin involved - not the suicide, but the decision to go off medication.

Yes.
Jesus suffered on the cross, not just physical pain but emotional pain when He was separated from the Father.

God understands pain, he had to watch his son die on the cross. However, he does not understand taking the life he so freely gave you. I would suggest talking to a doctor and a pastor if you or someone you know is thinking of committing suicide.

Pain is of the body that which we cause upon or let cause upon our self. God is not affected by our bodily feelings but by our inner feelings, that which is real.
For that pain is only for conditioning and making oneself stronger and better. Some welcome pain in order to be constantly reminded of God.

God understands pain. He was crucified and took the pains and agonies, both mental and physical upon Himself. He understands you, just talk to Him.

If someone is depressed, they need to work out the anger that they've turned inward to make them depressed in the first place. That is what God expects us to do, that is, to figure things out so we can survive.
Often, with depression and anger, forgiveness is the key (not Jesus' forgiveness - but your forgiveness of the person(s) who did you wrong)
