I bought a Roomba on ebay that worked beautifully for 1 month. Then it croaked. The warranty is not transferable. It's only 2 years old! Irobot wants $95 plus shipping to refurbish it. I did research on these vacuums, but didn't realize there were no stores to take them to get them fixed. Help!!!
P.S. Was buying it on ebay my first mistake?

It sounds like your Roomba has a sensor failure of some kind, or one wheel is stuck. Try cleaning the wheels and making sure they turn properly. If the wheels are OK, then it must think it's either bumping into something continuously, or about to fall off an edge continuously (because the sensor isn't working) Go to this page to do diagnostics:

It could just be that the Roomba won't "do" that type of carpet, as shown here:
