Have the surgical procedure done right away as early as possible. Don't wait for Ascending Cholangitis to set in because it is a very serious problem and is often fatal.

To give you an idea, it starts with an initial infection termed as acute cholangitis with biliary cholic (pain produce by the contraction of the gall baldder) , jaundice (yellowish discoloration of the skin) and spiking fevers with chills termed a Charcot Triad. As the infection progress when left untreated, it can potentially involve the biliary ducts up to the liver. Severe infection can result into severe toxicity with mentalconfusion, bacteremia and later septic shock and at this stage, response to antibiotis treatment is relatively very poor.

the stones are made up of cholesterol and have to be removed, kidney stones can be broken up ultrasound or shock waves but I don't believe it can be done with gall stones. In any event they cause lots of pain why suffer when they can be removed in about 45 minutes, and like one of the other answers the anesthesia is great and no more pain and you can eat what you want

there are ways to do it. One way is by drugs. And also they do it by crushing it thru ultrasonic waves. But all depend on the specific case.

They can treat the stones with lasers - it is not as invasive.

The gallstones will not go away on their own. It will only get worse if you let it go untreated.
