It's hard to tell. What exactly is the threshold that separates two extremely different dialects of the same languages from being two separate languages? For example, Romanian and Moldavian are considered to be two separate languages, yet the difference between them are about the same as the difference between American English and British English, which are considered to be merely dialects.
