Is it just me who thinks this is mental? I understand people take drugs because of boredom or loneliness, but if you're stupid enough do smack or crack or crystal meth, then surely you're just a thick scumbag? Every body know what it does to you, and how easy it is to get addicted (crystal meth has 5 times more 'second time users' than smack or crack, but still they do it. Knowing all this why do they get a separate room, yet those of us who take other prescriptions don't?

So why shouldn't I get privacy for my prescription? And who says it's a disease in America? You put people away for EVER if they get done for smoking a joint 3 times. Now that's hypocrisy. Unless I misunderstood the '3 strikes rule' in which case, I stand corrected. Which is it?

All I'm saying is that people who smoke, or drink or whatever, know that the possibilities of these activities is not likely to kill them in the short term. If you decide to take heroin then you should know (I'm talking about people who are old enough to make the choice themselves) that it's very likely that you'll end up having to commit crimes to feed your habit. And that I guess is my problem with it. People invading your privacy and stealing what they didn't earn means they're scum. End of argument.

Teaghee. We're all addicted to something that'll lead to death. It's called life. You do realise that even if you don't smoke, drink, take drugs, eat healthy and do regular exercise that you're still going to die someday. Sorry to be the one to break it to you.

Well, it's very embarrassing being a crackhead, isn't it? The poor things need some privacy. Never mind the rest of us with our piles and thrush, nits and worms. We can just explain our symptoms in front of the rest of the customers.

People contineu to smoke because they are addicted to nicotine. People continue to drink in excess because they are addicted to alcoholic stimulants. People take drugs for the instant *high*. All these groups can become "junkies" because they all believe the mantra *it won't happen to me* when taking addictive substances
Fighting smoking addiction or alcoholism is a private issue between the sufferer and their councillors. Drug addiction, which is immediately life threatening from that 1st fix, is given some privacy in the battle to wean addicts off drugs. Self respect is a major tool. That is why methadone is often given in a private room, if just to stop people pointing and shouting "smackhead".
Smokers, alcoholics. smackheads? there is little difference because each are addicted to something that leads to death. Should we condemn them all? Or, should we take warning of how addiction can overcome even the smartest person? Think about it, please.

From what I hear it only takes one time to become addicted to those drugs. Those people at the methadone clinics are trying to become clean. I guess you think if they made one mistake and took those drugs and became addicted they should what...give up and die? Its not something that they are proud of and since there are people like you in this world they try to make it a little easier for people to get help by making it private.

Yeah and you know what else bugs me??? When there is a dodgy batch of smack going around and the police actually warn the junkies!!! Don't tell them!!! Let them take it!!!!! Get them off our streets!!!

Actually it's a known fact that a majority of junkies on methadone are still banging up, its a free hit!!!

And even my 10 year old knows that you can get addicted first time, they teach it in schools, have done for years, so they should have thought twice before trying it eh??!!

because i iam sure there is a PRIVACY policy for methadone patients. people who are on methadone are trying to get the help they need. i am not a religous person, but:
There, but before the grace of God, go I.
think about it. and if you live in the US being a drug addict is considered a DISEASE. just like cancer or diabetes or any other debilitating disease, it eats you up. Methadone is just like insulin, get over your self.

One of my friends is a pharmacist & he used to give the junkies their methadone in front of the whole store, in a wine glass. As it is a vile green colour, it was always fairly obvious & everyone would stare at them.
His rationale?
1) If they left the pharmacy with it they would only sell it anyway
2) They don;t deserve any special treatment.

Good on him!
