samsung is good but it ultimately depends on your preference and budget

This depends a lot on how much you're willing to spend, and whether you're looking for portability, photo-quality, or whiz-bang features.

Very generally, though, I will suggest the Casio EX-Z750. I researched cameras for a couple months back in March, before a long vacation. Along with a 2Gig memory stick, the Z750:
- is very point-and-click capable,
- has as much or more resolution than any non-professional needs,
- can take hours of very good quality video,
- is small and I found very portable in a belt-case.

If you're looking for something less expensive, there are a lot of good, cheapish cameras out there that should do the trick. It depends on what you're looking for. Try the link I have below.

The best digital camera to buy is the Nikon D2X.
However- I'm guessing that you're not interested in spending $4500 on a professional DSLR.

Did you want to refine your question any?

You'll probably be real happy with a Panasonic FX01, or a Canon SD630. A Fuji F20 if you like taking photos indoors and don't want to use an annoying flash.
