Christians say that 'Jesus is Gods only son'
Muslims say 'Allah' is the only God. Now both these statements cannot be true becuase we know that apart from these two religions there are millions of people following other religions. Does that mean that God is one super being but its followers are narrow minded as they try to glorify their version of God?

I can only answer for Christianity. I believe the Bible. The Bible is the foundation of our beliefs. There is no book like it on Earth. It is the most accurately copied ancient text. Noone can legitiamately argue its accuracy. Believing whether it is true or not is where faith comes in. If I could fully explain it, it wouldn't require faith. But there are some interesting things to consider. The Bible was written by 40 different men over a period of 1500 years and they all agree on God, Heaven, Hell, Jesus, Eternity, Sin, etc. Each of the other religious texts that I know of (Koran, Book of Mormon, Confucious, etc.) were written by a man.

My point is that if you are open to other God's then you are calling into question the authority of the Bible, b/c it is clear that Jesus Christ is THE (only) way.

It would be pretty stupid to worship a God that you didn't think was the only God? Followers believe that their version is the true version.

Your argument suggests that you could choose to honor any parents you come across for just being parents. Instead of loving your own mother, you could just go choose any other mother out there instead of the one you know to be true.

There are people that worship snakes and trees. What you're saying is, because I believe in God and they believe snakes and trees are gods, that I should then also worship snakes and trees even though I don't see them as gods. That's not logical.

It is interesting when you look at the old testament times because the Jewish god was simply one tribal god amongst many - each group claimed that their god was more powerful. The tribe with the biggest god wins.

You see the same kind of thing in Native Americans; the name of most of the tribes meant "the people" - they each saw themselves as the best group

Where the practice of worship of a good and benevolent god is a lasting religion, the one God is able to be that god and more! So you see we all worship the same god, and his name is Larry according to Steven Wright.

because if the people in a religion didn't believe their god was God, how would they belong to this "faith" in the first place. that's the whole point of faith...they believe in THEIR God. nope, not everyone can be right. and yes, God is one super being, but it says nothing about followers being narrow minded. what it comes down to is...somebody's right and everyone else is wrong. i'm sure we'll find out someday.

Religious belief systems persist to the extent that they can attract and retain believers. That means convincing potential believers that they'd be "special" if they believed, and it means denigrating other belief systems. Religions that fail to do these things effectively will not persist in the long term.

Ironically, each time a religious person insists that his or her religion's "god" is the only true one, he or she provides another piece of evidence for evolution.

Actually, I think there are many gods and that none of them are all-knowing or all-powerful. I focus on my deities because those are the ones that I choose to worship. I acknowledge the deities of others but I don't feel the need to worship them.

I am a witness, funny, but unlike many, I am open minded.
I actually like to hear other points of view. But I am strong to my opinions.
I think that no one can truly know everyhing about God, but we can try. Knowing it all is just that. . . you have to know what other religions are about.
religion is a touchy, confusing subject. But to each his own...I recongnize our right to free speech & freedom.
