The origins of homosexuality are not entirely known. It is believed by scientists to be a genetic trait. That doesn't mean just because Uncle Alex is gay that you will be too. It simply means that homosexuality is programed in your body. It is not due to the environment where you grew up or any of that nonsense. No one is at fault, nor is there anything to blame. Homosexuality is not a disease, a problem, or anything to be ashamed of.
There are no 'treatments' for homosexuality. It is the same as trying to change your eye color or height. You may be able to mask it a little, but never actually change it.
There are many communities where homosexuality is accepted, including religious ones if that concerns you. I'm not just referring to gay communities either. I am not gay, but completely support my homosexual friends and neighbors.
I hope that helps.

No there is no treatment for Homosexuality. A person is just born that way. Scientists are now discovering that many animals are also gay and animals do not have the conscience to "choose". This, of course, has the homophobics and the christians in an uproar because they want to believe it is a choice or an illness. I know of one man who claims that he has been "cured". He is the most bitter, unhappy person I've ever met. Too bad he couldn't just deal with what God made him and find happiness in a mate instead of denying himself that love.

I suppose that would depend on what makes the homosexual prefer the same sex to the other. If caused by some trauma or mental issues, then I am sure that counseling and therapy would be of help.
However, that being said, I don't think that a true homosexual can be " changed" by any therapy, treatments, or medications. It is the way they are predispostioned, whom they are attracted to, and that is just the way it is.

Let's see, there's Denial, Guilt, Depression, Alienation just to name a few, but I suppose seeing as you think homosexuality is a disease, you've probably already prescibed said treatments. If you're really asking this and not doing the old... "oh no, not me, my friend is the one who did the thing I really did" game, you're not sick, you don't have a disease. despite what many people tell you, there's nothing wrong with you.. Being gay is like being tall. Imagine thinking of hieght as an illness.

Less milkshakes. OK, seriously, there is no cure, because there is no disease. I would wait until you are out of high school, then tell people that you love that you are gay. Read a book or two on the subject matter and talk to gay people. You have to accept it and understand that this will be your way of life. Gradually seek acceptance.

The so called treatment advertised by christians is a sham and has been denounced by the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association and more.
You were born that way for good reason. Celebrate and accept being exactly who you were born to be and enjoyl

I think it is the same treatment used to turn Heterosexuals into Homosexuals, Homophobes into "animal lovers", Bi-sexuals into Necrophilliacs and Judgemental-Holier-than -thous into secret Paedophiles.
For people who said shoot them or anything similar... what if your brother, sister or own flesh and blood child was gay... would you shoot them? torture them? Then I believe its notthe gay people that needs a cure...
Oprah's brother is gay and so is mine, I would not shoot him coz he is one of the kindest people around. People that need to be shot are not the gay or the heteros, its the small minded pain causing ones.

The current religous right treatment for homosexuality is beating the crap out of a gay person until he learns his lesson.
Kind of like the Crusades centuries ago........

Some people in the Christian community claim there is a way to deny homosexuality and become heterosexual. I heard them discussing it on a radio broadcast of "Focus on the family" with Dr. James Dobson. You might want to find your way to their website, and email them and ask about it.

I don't think there truly is. You could go to some crazy fundamentalist and make him brainwash you into thinking that you'll spend an eternity in hell if you don't repent, but I think the easier path would just learning to love yourself and accept who you are. =]
