is bejing relly a forbidden city i mean no forigener can stay there or something

it was the city of royalty and was therefore forbidden for commoners to enter...it was highly guarded aginst assasins. a major fear in China at that tine

Beijing is open to foreigners all the same.

There is however a tour site called the forbidden city. The forbidden city is a palace which houses the emperor in the past, just like we have the white house in washington.

The place is called "forbidden" because during the ancient time, the palace is not open to layman and hence was later named this way.

"the forbidden city" was only the part allocated for the Chinese Cesar and his entourage.
now, it is open to all as the last Cesar was remove from power in the 40th.

i dont think its the entire beijing just the forbidden city which is inside of beijing where the emperor and his buddies lived and so it is off limits to other people but not any more ^.^
