Hay Hun, its a really good idea to sign with a gym. I'm not fat but wanted to tone up and i signed with fitness first, Its changed my life style completely . I have watched my bum change shape and its awesome, I do alot of boxing and martial arts as well as weights and cardio, seriously I've been working out for 4 weeks and I'm getting a 6 pack. And to top it off I'm eating 6-8 meals a day. They really know how to advise you properly. Its pretty economical too

Very important thing about food, first of all: KEEP EATING!!! The worst thing an-out-of-shape teen can do is starve his/herself thinking they'll lose weight quicker or whatever. Don't. Keep eating all three meals, but in good/regular proportions, and no snacks in between-- at all!
Now, back to your main question... about exercise:
1. Do at least 15 min. of exercise everyday, like good paced walking. If not, half an hour of exercise, but instead 4-5 days per week.
2. The best exercises are: swimming, running, jump rope, bicycling and dance (to music-- preferably with fast beat of course). Do one or two for those 15 min. or half hour I suggested!!
3. Try sit-ups, but while making your feet "grasp" around a bed foot or somthing; something sturdy. Try doing 5 at first, then 10, then 15, then.....
4. Always remember to stretch before exercises! Very important! Doing sudden exercise before the body is warmed up and ready for some serious toning up exercises is highly bad for your body. Oh, and plenty of water (before/after) is greatly useful.
Hope this helped and good luck!! =)

It all depends on where you are with your fitness level. start off by doing any exercise you want (swimming, walking, runnning, etc.) and keep the exercise going at a constant pace. The pace you should go with at first should be a pace that feels not very easy but not very difficult (on a scale from 1 being not exercising and 10 being your hardest, go with a 5 or 6). Try going for 30 minutes but if you cant, thats fine. Keep your workouts consistant as well like 3-5 times a week and you'll see results.

I started runnung when I was 19, and i promise you that trhis takes care of not only legs and hips, but upper body, too.
Runners have less belly fat than any other single exercise.
Give it a shot.
I now , at 39, do between 4 -7 miles each run, but I started at about 1 -1/2 miles.
Find a running store, and the prices are no higher than department stores, but they look at your feet and arches and help you find the best, most comfy and enjoyable shoes for your runs.

I believe in eating what I want but knowing if I don't do anything about it I risk gaining weight. As long as I agree with that and know I will have to work out then am OK and will enjoy my food as I will enjoy my 30 minutes to an hour cardio then swimming.

most of the people are generally out of shape. this can be treated by doing some "twisting your waist" exercises , aerobics and not to forget dancing which is the best for dis- shaped people.
good luck....
