I prefer Winamp (www.winamp.com). The latest version is 5.24 (as of 21st June 2006).

To display lyrics you'll need to download a plugin. It's called EvilLyrics (no space between Evil and Lyrics) from the same site.

Click on Plug-ins at the top of the page, and fill in EvilLyrics at the top right of the screen where it stipulates Search.

EvilLyrics is OK, but it's not perfect. I've been playing some tracks that it isn't able to find. The advantage of this plugin is that you are able to submit lyrics (Click on the small World icon).

There are, of course, many other programs that play mp3s but I don't know whether there are plugins available for them ... apart from the one suggested by live2ride.

Lyrics can be a pretty hit and miss affair; I've used Evil Lyrics and it's fine.
I'm using Jet Audio Basic (Free) and Leo's Lyric Viewer. After a bit of fiddling it seems to work ok. Oddly the text was set to white on a white background by default! Set it to Arial and Black!
