This is a list of countries with nuclear weapons. There are currently seven states that have successfully detonated nuclear weapons. Five are considered to be "nuclear weapons states", an internationally recognized status conferred by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). In order of acquisition of nuclear weapons these are: the United States of America, Russia (formerly the Soviet Union), the United Kingdom, France, and the People's Republic of China. Since the formulation of the NPT, two non-signatory states of the NPT have conducted nuclear tests: India and Pakistan. Israel is also strongly suspected to have an arsenal of nuclear weapons though it has never confirmed or denied this, and there have been reports that over 200 nuclear weapons might be in its inventory. This status is not formally recognized by international bodies; none of these three countries is currently a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. North Korea has publicly declared itself to possess nuclear weapons though it has not conducted any confirmed tests and its ultimate status is still unknown. Iran has been accused by The United Nations of attempting to develop uranium enrichment technology for weapons purposes, a charge it has denied. As of February 4, 2006, the International Atomic Energy Agency referred Iran to the United Nations Security Council in response to concerns on their possible nuclear programs.

The USA, and at last count that I had, which is a few years old we have 10,000 deployed and 35,000 stockpiled. In the summer of 2001, before the events of 9/11, Newsweek had an issue about Bush wanting drastically reduce the stockpile of US nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, now, due to the politics of the era, he cannot. It is too bad, too, would have done allot to ease tensions around the world if he had continued on that plan as well.

The USA, unfortunately. And it should give up its nuclear arsenal, since no country poses danger to it.

The U.S. of course. Why do you think everyone is constantly messing with the U.S.? Cause they know that the U.S. will never use that kind of force as they did against Japan again.
