We know from old writings that the sculptor Michaelangelo created the beautiful statue "David"
Suppose a scientific study using microscopy detects chisel marks on the statue.
A small number of scientists and their supporters insist that because the statue was made with chisels, this proves Michaelangelo never lived.
In opposition the "Michaelevangelists" insist that the old writings are true and furthermore chisels do not exist, even if they are available in all hardware stores.
This acrimonious argument is still raging a century and bit after the scientific study.

006,
My point is that the fact that evolution has occurred does not prove God does not exist. It is also foolish to argue against evolution in the face of a great deal of scientific evidence. In summary why are evolution and creation incompatible ideas?

This is a great question, however The point you are missing
is that DNA analysis of evolutionary strains dictates that it happens at an elemental level...it is hard to see the mystery of God working and such a collasally small level...it doesn't mean that He isn't working within but that is where the science and the Faith can not co-exist...

your's is a more reasoned question on the subject than most I have seen on this website though...I like it!

This argument is ridiculous at best.

Why would the scientists (and in reality they are a majority of the scientists and their supporters) conclude that he didn't live? It is just as fully possible that he lived and later on someone went to perfect it with a Chisel. The scientists would look at other evidence that proves is possible that michaelangelo lived or not.

There are so many assumptions in this argument: The Chisel menas nobody else could have done it later, the only work michaelangelo did was that statue, this is the real statue, etc.

I think that by the way you bring this up you are trying to say how some people think that Jesus didn't exist. That would be false since we have outside of the Bible knowledge that he did, even from Jewish writers. If you are speaking of god, you are mistaken in the analogy because there is no statue to say that he made it. Creation is not the statue because it doesn't suggest it was made by a god. The closest argument, irreducible complexity, has been shown to be inneffective.

Analogies, everyone's favorite. I don't even know what your analogy is supposed to say aside from evolutionists say that Michaelangelo didn't exist (false) or that creationists say that chisels don't exist (false)? What is the point you're trying to show here with this analogy?

If we can't even figure out what the point of the analogy is, what useful purpose does it serve? Please indicate what each of the factors in this analogy is supposed to represent, I can see Michaelangelo is supposed to be God, but what of the rest?

Addendum: No, the fact that evolution occured does not prove God does not exist, however, there is no evidence of God, and the theory of evolution works exactly the same with God as without, so God is an extrraeneous term to be eliminated (occam's razor), as far as science is concerned.

Evolution and Young-Earth Creationism are not compatable. Many deists often believe in God and Evolution (god created the universe, including evolution, in the beginning and hasn't touched anything since then). Since the evidence (geological, astrophysical, biological, common sense etc) is completely and utterly against the world being less than 10,000 years old (literal interpretation of the Bible), science kicks out young-earth creationism in favor of something which is actually supported by facts. Hope that helps.

Well, it's a bit flawed, but I see where you're going....

Without being an actual eye witness, there's no way to prove that Michelangelo actually sculpted David, so you have two camps: One that takes it on faith, and the other that is looking for hard evidence.

The "faith" camp read it in a book that contained many other instances of Michelangelo's work, but have no scientific proof other than it "feels" right.

The "scientific" camp are split up into factions as well. Some have a hypothesis that David was sculpted by Michelangelo. Others hypothesize that David was sculpted by a number of Michelangelo's proteges. And still others hypothesize that it was someone else entirely. However, the common bond of all of the scientists is they're looking for empirical evidence.

Creation: A Basic Bible Doctrine
The sum and substance of the raging "creation versus evolution" issue revolves around one thing and one thing only: whether or not the God of the Bible is the Creator and Sustainer of life and the universe. Let us see what the Bible clearly claims:
"Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded" (Isaiah 45:11,12).
This is a remarkable claim to say the least. It is either true or it is a colossal falsehood. God either created the heavens and the earth and their entire host or He didn't. These scriptures demand that we treat the matter of the creation as the foundational doctrine in the Bible. All other scriptural doctrines, laws, prophecies, and instructions hang on this single fact that the entire universe came into being by the Word of the Almighty God. We repeat: The Lord's claim is that He created the universe is either true or it is a monumental lie. There is no other conclusion one can arrive at.
The Bible pulls no punches. It informs us straight out that Satan has the whole world deceived (Revelation 12:9). Almost daily we are blitzed by brilliantly produced TV documentaries-coming in the name of "science"-claiming "Mother Nature," of her own accord, by some inexplicable, innate power, produced our grand universe and all its myriad life forms. Millions are duped by it. The Bible forewarns us of such deception: "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith" (1 Timothy 6:20,21). True science and biblical revelation exposes the theory of evolution for what it really is-a fantastic fallacy, a fallacy that is now being rejected by thousands of scientists and other intellectuals as well as believers in the Word of God. The Psalmist came to the same conclusion many centuries ago when he wrote, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 14:1).
Was the Psalmist right? Is there a God or isn't there? These are vital questions and the answers you arrive at will not only govern your current behavior, but also will determine whether you will ultimately be in the Kingdom of God or perish in a lake of fire. Yes, it is just that important.

evolution and Creation are not in conflict. the fact is no matter however much science develops, god cannot be proved not to exist

because nothing can be proved not to exist.

For example you may think pink dragons don't exist but can you prove it? you can't for all you know there may be pink dragons in some unknown part of the universe or maybe even in a parallel one. the main reason people believe in god is because miracles or signs have been seen by them or they are fascinated by the sense and logic in the patterns of the world around and cannot think them to be due to mere coincidence of the in inanimate laws of physics.
