All religions are 'irrational'. But so-called 'rationality' may also be 'irrational'. For an appreciation of why Christianity is the way it is, read the famous polemic by Nietzsche - Christ and Anti-Christ. Obviously, for the counter-argument, read the Bible!

Does it not depend on the sort of 'Christians' who may make it 'irrational' - the pick and mix crew who tend to spoil it for mature Christians who have lived by the book from them being knee high to a grasshopper...and as we've found out over the past, say, 25 years - there are Muslims who will ALSO pay more attention to some parts of their Koran than others, in order to strengthen whatever argument they are trying to get across.
It's the so-called 'pick & mix' dudes who have most of homo sapien wonder what Christianity/Judaism/Muslim is all about, and tend to use whatever bit they choose to twin with their particular politics.
Aurora (nice name!) has cynicism on account of the prose (or perhaps meaning) of the Book, but methinks the chip in their brains are not particularly harmed...it's usually the cherry-picking group who tend to get chips on their shoulders when they see people actually enjoying life - existing in a way that vexes them up knowing that their envy is down to them not possessing the same social skills - okay, that may be a different subject altogether, but it seems the pick and choose gang need something to hold on to...why not rely on choice bits of the Bible. It's these sweeties who have most of us demonstrating cynicism of any religion.

When Galileo said that the Earth revolved around the Sun, he was said to be irrational.
When Einstein came up with the Theory of Relativity, he also found people questioning his reasoning.
Stephen Hawking met a number of objectors with his string theory.
All these appear irrational to those that lack understanding of the concepts involved. Once there is understanding, then they can be seen as rational. The same for faith. Faith is tested by experience. You pray for someone to be healed, they are healed, therefore the prayer is answered. You exorcise a demon from a psychotic/schizophrenic, they are restored to their right mind, so something must have happened there as well (before anyone challenges this statement, I was that psychotic/schizophrenic and I was healed by exorcism).

Fundamentalist Christians are irrational.
Please don't put me in the same boat as them.
I support a football team but I am not a hooligan.
I play rugby but don't like violence.
I don't believe because I want any reward, I just believe that what Jesus had to say changed the way we think about other people.
I have felt God's work in the world.
That doesn't mean that Darwin wasn't a genius, and that he was wrong. I'm also a naturalist and take Darwin the same as I take Newton - they explain the rules.
But not why we play the game.
I also judge people by whats in their hearts and by what they do - not by the beliefs and values they hold. I have been in too many cultures to do otherwise.

Religions are all irrational, Christianity however is the one which is the most irrational of the lot. There's no point in going into all of the reasons why its just shear lunacy to base your whole life on such an obviously flawed load of teachings.

I suppose it is for the same reason that you are irrational to not-believe in Christianity.
It's a thing called freedom of opinion. I think your are irrational for judging Christians and our beliefs and you think I'm irrational for believing in Christ.
We both have the right to our opinions and no matter how hard we both try, we will never convince each other to change beliefs.
But we both agree that we disagree with each others reasoning. So why not leave it at that and spending energy in trying to help people instead of attacking another persons belief.
either way.
Peace.

In Your heart of hearts do you ever doubt that you are descendants from primates and single celled organismic blobs
Do you ever doubt that the universe with all the intricate structure from eco systems to galaxies happened by chance. look at the relatively perfect geometric structures of planets and stars. do you ever have doubts, have you ever wondered how that atmosphere on earth out myriads of other planets is the only one to sustain life, and if the atmospheric make up is ever slightly changed we would all die.
How can you explain how if the Earth was positioned in orbit just a little bit different that the Earth would be un inhabitable. GOD HAD TO DO IT. IT is the only thing that makes sense to truly rational thinkers

Christianity seems irrational because it doesn't seem to make sense that Jesus would give His life up to bring us back to God, and offer us all salvation as a free gift!
Our culture and society is geared towards doing something to get something and has a hard time coping with the idea that it cannot save itself. Salvation is a free gift for everyone, it can't be earned or bought.

Christianity is ONLY irrational to those such as yourself who do not study the Word or have a clue as to what it is all about.
When people read parts of the Bible, or worse yet, LISTEN to people who read parts of the Bible and offer up their shortsited opinion, things are clarified. That is, they jump to wrong conclusions. Do yourself a favor, read it all and understand it before making comments such as you have in your question.
