A text should not be read in isolation; other text, whether read or viewed, influence our response to a text.
As many of you would know, there is no correct answer to an english question so any of your opinions/views are valuable to help me. Thankyou!

I have decided to agree with the topic, but the next part is explaining why. And i've got no clue WHY we should not read one text alone.

It means that a person should not do their work in an intellectual vacuum. If you are reading something, then other related works by other authors will help you formulate a well-informed opinion. In other words, being well-read will ensure that your response is more thoughtful. For example, if I were asked to read D.H. Lawrence's "Sun", and I hadn't read "The Horse Dealer's Daughter", I might not make the connection that both relate to despair, intimacy and spiritual healing. My lack of familiarity with the second work would affect my response to the first one, because I would have nothing with which to compare it.

It simply means do not take any text as it is. Read more into the subject from other sources before making a desicion to respond. Reading a text alone is dangerous because it my not have presented the full picture, and you will be in danger of being misinformed. Reading from a variety of sources from differnet backgrounds on the same topic will help you form a better, clearer, and less biased view on the subject and so provide ample material on which to respond to.

I don't agree. Most original texts, whatever they might be, were written to be read in isolation, surely? When Dickens wrote his novels, he didn't expect his readers to have a guide beside them! I agree that it's helpful to have a commentary, especially when the text is difficult, but not essential. Texts can be read and appreciated on different levels - e.g. One can enjoy the story and the characters of a novel without understanding the historical background or the writer's motivation.

According to me, 1.The correct answer to an english question , is how each one perceives the question. 2.. Even a comma, pause, gap, all makes the answer different. 3. The way each word is stressed & pronounced gives different connotation.

You never ever read a text alone. All you read before colors how you read this.

first of all, think of approximately what you ideas and emotions have been proper to the 1st e book (of the two chosen) which you study. forget approximately proper to the 2nd e book. Write proper to the form you felt after that first examining; did you like the characters, have been they elementary to get to understand, became the tale elementary to understand? (it somewhat is one para.). Then think of proper to the form you felt proper to the 2nd e book; did you nonetheless experience the comparable way or had your critiques replaced? (write a para proper to the form you felt after the 2nd e book). needless to say, you will might desire to furnish an intro, alongside the lines of what you suggested above. Then your end would be protecting the diversities on your emotions, or the shortcoming of them.

this is pretty much saying when reading something, don't just value what you're reading but also value anything else you've ever read ont he subject too.
