It looks like you may have to do a Disk Defragment on it to make it faster again.

Defragmentation will for sure decrease the bootup time, as it optimizes the position of various windows boot files so that are fastly accessed during boot time.
Also, you acn remove some start up programs from msconfig's last TAB, remove any starting software which you think you normally don't use...

I dont think either the battery or the disk defragment have anything to do with your problem. Usually a pc (or laptop) take longer to load because they are busy doing things that they didnt have to do before (just like you mentioned with the new software).
Try disabling automatic startup for anysoftware that you dont really need - lots of programs like to try and startup everytime you start windows but a lot of the time you dont need them.
Better to start windows with a minimum of programs running and then just start the ones you need.

I think u install some spy-ware and ad-ware that slow down Ur laptop.Secondly,U might install many software and media files that filled more than 90% space of Ur laptop,so Ur laptop become slower.or there might some viruses that mcafee could not detect, and slow down Ur laptop.

The more software you load that runs on startup, the slower your system will boot!
