It's 4:34 AM over here and I feel like I'm the only person awake on this whole street (and I live on a very long street). I'm sick, can't talk, have to study for a major test, and thinking about a dream of mine that I had a year ago. I've only had 3 nightmares and these two are almost identicle (sp?)... So, i'm in this old, ancient cathedral...It's rotting away because the walls are a dark brown and the rows are sagging. There's this ghost-- very ancient, very evil, very cold-- and it flys right by me. It's like a Deatheater out of a Harry Potter book. Then, it like overtakes me. And I wake up, still half asleep and half awake and I'm paralyzed. I can't move at all. My heart's pounding in my ear, thoughts racing through my head. After a second, the paralysis is broken and I'm praying to God that I never have another dream like that... the second time, my curiosity got the best of me and I let the ghost over take me... yeah... weird...

Thanks... I've actually figured it out... we had moved to a new house a few days before that day and there was a lot of bad tension in the house (I didn't want to move here even though here is a few hundred yards away from our old house)... it would show that I had no control over buying the new house, etc....

You're experiencing what's called Sleep Paralysis or the "Old Hag" syndrome. It's common. Although i did not have the same dream, the feeling of dread being near you usually scares the person to wake up, but your body is unable to move. I've had personal experiences of dreadful things coming for me in my sleep and experiencing paralysis when I try to wake up. I usually just relax myself and it goes away. They say it's due to stress, and by the looks of your major test, you're probably just stressed out.

You are battling demons in your head. Something or someone is overpowering your free will. That part you will have to figure out on your own.

As far as the waking up and not being able to move - what you are experiencing is called "sleep paralysis" and not totally uncommon. I have had it since my teen years and it occurs at least 10 or so times a year for me. The brain awakens, but not totally. You feel conscious, yet your muscles do not respond. It can be terrifying, and feel like it is lasting for ages, yet it is only a few seconds. If you know what it is, it's less frightening, and you can calm yourself through it.

I wish I had more time to dissect the "Harry Potter" part of your dream, but I have to go to work. I think Yahoo should create a section for dream analysis. It would be great fun.

It's quite obvious that you are fighting a fear that things are going to take control of you because you are not feeling too good. You probably feel that you're going to be too tired and fail in your efforts to pass the test. The cathedral could represent the establishment which at this point you may find overwhelming. The rotting could mean you feel that things are closing in on you because your energy / strength is low and beyond your control to stop it. Your physical state is making you susceptable and overwhelmed to your obligations. Close your eyes and meditate - make the ghost burn away and make the cathedral crumble to the ground so that you can breath again.

i think that ur dream has a much deeper meaning. to me it feels as though u have a deep longing to get closer to God and you probably are not getting the teaching you need at the church you currently attend. God is probably trying to tell you that even though the church you're going to right now is beautiful on the outside, the people are dying in the inside or it may even be speaking about you since our bodies are Gods temples. you are probably very beautiful physically and take great pride on your looks and your outward appearance but in the inside your rotting away. i'm hoping it's not because of the type of person you are, i.e. selfish, spiteful, etc but because you just haven't found salvation yet through Jesus Christ. I would feel very honored that He has given you this dream and take it as a wake up call. Find a good non-denominational church in your area. I'll be praying for you. and thank you for this opportunity to share with you. God bless you. http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/biblestudyandtheology/discipleship/steps_to_peace_with_god.aspx

Classic anxiety dreams, but unusually vivid. It won't take you long to answer the question, "What was I anxious about when I had that dream?" I'm getting a loss of control, a fear of being overwhelmed, here. There's a secret, something you don't think you're ready to talk about. But when you are ready to talk about it, you'll probably find out it's just not that big a deal.

I'm also thinking that when you had these dreams, you hadn't had a great deal of sleep. Make sure you get plenty of exercise, and go easy on the caffeine, alcohol, or other substances.

Perhaps you have some media effect by harry potter book as well. By that connects to your body. You may want to see a doctor about the effect after dream. Dreaming nightmare or bad dream can cause heart disease or heart attack
