I have a week's holiday and I would like to go somewhere reasonably nice but cheap to get to from the UK where I can do my PADI training. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would prefer not to go to Turkey or Egypt.

Please be as specific as you want.

Cheers

If you've only got a week long holiday, you'll probably want to stick around Europe so you don't have to fly too far. I was certified in the south of France and had a great experience off the coast of Marseilles through this company http://www.sportextreme.com/phdico9. A friend of mine just went last week to Spain and got certified through this company and had good things to say about them. http://www.prodiveeurope.com/. If you've never gone diving before, read the websites carefully to see what courses are offered for beginners and how many days they spend with you and how big the classes are. Hope this helps a bit.

Well i wouldnt knock Egypt at all. It has some of the best diving in the world and is probably one of the most cost effective places to go. I stayed at the Hilton Waterfalls (5 star) in sharm last year i went two days after the bombings and had a fantastic time the people are great and the diving is stunning the package for a whole week including flights and the PADI course (with european instructors) was £329.00. Superb value for money maybe you should have a look at http://www.explorers.co.uk/ a very good company..............

presently i'm residing with some those that are working to get their scuba diving certification here in Thailand. in spite of the shown fact that i do no longer understand too lots proper to the instructions, i understand that they have some large week long scuba diving instructions the place you could earn your certification interior the south of Thailand. Koh Tao and Koh Lanta furnish week long applications the place you could earn your diving certification for somewhat much less costly. Koh Phi Phi is likewise an exceedingly usual internet site for divers, well known for it somewhat is clean waters. investigate the information superhighway sites under or basically arrive on the islands, there are a lot of diving businesses which will take you out on the sea instantaneous, and lodging is regularly rather much less costly! additionally, while you're no longer into the prostitution/intercourse commerce scene, i might recommend skipping Pattaya, the islands have a extra laidback vibe and a slow occasion scene.

You could try Malta. To get most out of your holiday, do your theory in England with your pool sessions and then get a referral to complete your open water course abroad.

Don't knock Egypt, just don't do Sharm... head to Taba in the Sinai Peninsular, stay at the Hyatt Regency....

Egypt and the Maldives have the best diving that I've ever encountered.

Carribean is cr@p and overrated, Aus/Belize is good, but quite alot of coral bleaching has occured.

Nha Trang in Vietnam, can get a nie room, tv, fridge.... for less than 5 USD, and pay a fraction of the price for a PADI course, airfare will be about £500 I think
Good luck
