Hehehe...Atheists are able to view the Bible in an objective way, in a historical context and as the work of men. This is both a product of and a reason for continued atheism. Many Christians who see the bible as a unique creation and inspired by their only one true living god tend to get a little tied up in its many contradictions, and try to make sense of what would, taken at face value, surely appear to be the work of a seriously schizophrenic deity. The more able one is to read the book with an objective eye, the less invested one becomes in it, and the more able to enjoy it for its story and its lines. This means that many atheists know more about the book than many believers, and yet are free from the burden of having to believe in its deity.

Funny, that...

I knew. Adventists like me seem to know about as much, but you guys come up with so many good questions, which are better than those ignorant questions other "Christians" ask.

We don't believe in hell as a place of torment (but annihilation of the soul which is the enire being which happens to be physical. God can make it more flexible by immortalizing it. He made us, so he understands the science behind it.). It's a choice made by those who never valued life nor had faith that life could have been lived with a better attitude.....I believe atheists may possibly go to heaven, at least the ones who would enjoy to live and explore the wonders of this universe and have their own eternal home on the New Earth.

Very few atheists know the Bible all that well. They, like fundamentalists, memorize a few key scriptures that they use to support their positions.

And even then, knowing the Bible does not automatically convince one to become Christian. All the atheists I have discussed the matter with regarding the existence of God make errors in logic or refuse to consider certain classes of evidence. THIS is why they remain atheists.

yes its quite simple really, an atheist would have to have read the bible to decide he was an atheist in the first place and a non believer in fairy-tales, a christian on the other hand are normally just sheep following the Shepard's and therefore don't actually read their own bible very often if at all,
thanks

Then you should be not ashamed if the antheist knows the word more than you do. It is not the most of the word or bible that matters but the revelation of him personally and having a strong relationship with God truly and indeed.
They should know it or will have to because they need to justify themselves when the case arises, i believe.

They were just at loss with our creator's two way communication system.
So there's nothing wrong with them.
Just some one who stumble on the missing key and were able to decode the missing x-files on planet earth.
What they were preaching is not wrong.
Go ahead and learn it from them.
May be you can even breakthrough our creator's universal communication system too.
Afterall it is for your own survival on planet earth.

I went to a Catholic grade school and high school,. I really doubt that there are many athiests that know more about the Bible than I do. But if there are, I'd love to be in a theological debate with them.

Atheists need to read the Bible to justify their lack of belief in it probably more than a Christian does as he/she knows their faith...

Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer I guess... they should be fully aware of of what they are against and don't believe... it'd be ignorant of them to NOT read the bible and claim to not believe in God...
