ladies why not opt for polygamy?

in the current world population the number of females outnumber the number of males. if every man takes one wife, millions of females would be left in the cold.

Because God intended marriage to have only two parties, not three or four or five. Marriage is: man leaves father and mother, makes permanent commitment to *wife*, and the *two* become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).

If you think that is stretching it, take a look at the reasoning Jesus uses to show that divorce and remarriage is adultery (Matthew 19:3-6). It's exactly the same: a scrupulously literal interpretation of the passage from Genesis - so 'what God intended from the beginning'.

Furthermore, not everyone is called to be married (Matthew 19:10-12; 1 Corinthians 7:7; 12:4, 11). Quite aside from the fact that married people have more troubles in this life than singles, the burden of having to please a spouse can distract you from total devotion to God (1 Corinthians 7:25-35).

And He always has to be the most important (Exodus 20:1-3, Deuteronomy 6:4-5). Which is why He often does not allow people to find a spouse until they have stopped looking - i.e. until having a spouse has ceased to be an idol in their lives.

So, bottom line: God is the One Who calls people to be married or unmarried. If He is calling people to be married, He brings them together. If not, He doesn't. And we need to be content with whatever He gives us (Philippians 4:12).

Well the concern for the population of woman that may be left out in the cold is so sweet. My bet is that like myself they are more than happy to take that chance, most woman insist on a one man show, the old threes a crowd fits this scenario perfectly!
