as above my question. i look at all your answers. some are cool and some are not. i know of a girl who ordered a well done steak and it came rare, she told the waiter to cook it more. and it still was bloody in the middle. she asked again for it to be cooked through, it came back ok. after a week she had an infection on her lips. she saw the doctor and he said have you been involving in oral sex! she was so shocked, she did not even have a partner at that time. she had herpes of the mouth due to oral sex ie sperm infection, she traced it back to the time she complained about her steak. she could not do anything about it. so my motto is don't aargue or shout at your waiter or waitress.

i used to be a waiter and i would get annoyed with some customers, but at the end of the day, they might have difficult lives and this is the only time you see them - when they're trying to enjoy themselves. i would never do anything to their food. if someone wants to have a perfect experience, i think that you should try to do it for them, no matter how inadequate their courtesy towards yourself is.

OK that story of the girl getting oral herpes from the steak is gross..and disturbing. I mean if the customer is honestly being a pain then I can see the waiter getting angry. But just asking for a bloody steak (that you asked to be well done) to be cooked more? Also another thing is that there are people that have food allergies and sensitivities. I'm a celiac and have to be very careful about what I eat (even a tiny bite of something with gluten can make me really sick and many people are so ignorant about that) and I don't want a waiter sabotaging my food because I ask them about their menu, have to send something back or have them change them something.

No.
I worked in fast food and real restaurants.
And I've had some customers that would make Mother Theresa pull her hair out.

No I wouldn't do that. No matter how angry I was. Like the person said before they might have had a difficult life.

I had one customer that i hated. She was a meal old cab driver. She'd always sneer and say "What the F@*& took so long!" And i'd pratically throw the food at her.
But one day I just decided to be nice to her.
I smiled and said "Have a great day ma'm."

She stared at me as if I had grown 2 heads. And after that she was nice and would always ask for me.

Some times being nice to them works and sometimes it don't just hand in there and dont' do what my Best frien did. Pucnch them in the mouth.

She got fired for that.

If I were to do that it would validate the fear that other waiters do it. I am happy living in an ignorant world were that is just an urban myth.
Although I am always nice to waiters, it is a hard job

I think its disgusting that people would even think about spitting or worse in someones food. At the end of the day, the customer is paying for the meal, and if it isn't what they ordered, then they have every right to complain. I understand that there are ways in which to put your complaint nicely, but please don't worry every person who considers complaining about their food, it isn't fair!

no i would not! it's taking advantage of someone who can't defend himself against your actions and a petty way of getting revenge no matter how much of an a-hole the customer is being a waiter myself i know that it is part of the job (unfortunatly) to put up with bs like that1

No. Customers have a right to get what they are paying for, and it is the server's job to make sure that the food arrives as the guest has requested it. Besides, I'm afraid karma would bite my *** on that one if I ever did it.

No, in some states this day and time it is illegal to tamper with food...I hope everyone is aware of this that is in the restaurant business because if you get caught it could be a costly fine and possible JAIL time...
