I don't know if this is what your asking but here gos. go to start, then control panel, then appearance and themes, then display, then screen saver, then in the right hand corner go to power and choose your options. is this what you where after??

Go to control panel and click on power management change settings there to activate standby

To activate the stand by mode follow the steps as,
- Click “Stat” button on task bar
- Click “Turn off computer”
- Click the “Stand by” icon in the next dialog box

But if this button is disabled (grayed), it has to do something with the motherboard as I know. Only ATX systems have this feature. Make sure you have installed the motherboard drivers properly. And the “Stand by” button will get activated.

you cant activate the 'stand by ' in the start menu. if your hardware supports it then the option will be automatically available in the start menu. some times if you have not installed the necessary drivers also the option wont be available. install all the drivers in your motherboard cd
