I can see now why their nicknames are P.I.G.S- they run away if my dad is shouting at them, they can't hear or spell, think they know everything, smart-arses (power to their heads), arrive 3 hours on average from an emergency call EVERY time, they don't follow up statements and the same thing happens again by the same person, they are lazy and will do anything possible to avoid some work, pick on innocent people, etc, etc!

Blackman, yes that is their job and they are supposed to protect and prevent danger, but the fact is that they don't really!
They say "let the neighbour kill your cat! I don't care!", "you really think they are going to agree to your statement? Nobody cares about you, obviously! Get over it!" etc, etc, etc! You will NOT believe it!!
They disturb the peace more like it!

smoothsophie,
YOU must be an ignorant lawbreak- am I the one with an "uncontrollable 9 year old"?

They wouldn't have to blow off the "stupid" calls and go take care of the woman who was just assualted by her husband for the 3rd time this week. Or go arrest the guy that just raped his 15 year old daughter. Or take a report from someone that was just stabbed. Or arrest drug deals and dope smokers and burglars, theifs, wife beaters, child molesters, stalkers, punk kids, loud music, drunk drivers, bar fights, barking dogs, broken windows.
-TRUE.
I HAVE HEARD OF INCIDENTS LIKE THAT AND THE FATHER WAS ABLE TO RAPE HIS DAUGHTER OVER AND OVER AGAIN, A PERSON DIED, SOMEONE GOT PREGNANT AND IN HOSPITAL THEY WERE SO SLOW.
THIS IS THE STUFF I AM TALKING ABOUT!! THEY NEED TO EAT THEIR DONUTS FIRST, READ A MAGAZINE (BTW, THEY WERE BUSTED DOING THAT!), HAVE A QUICK CHAT, PLAY A GAME, ETC.
THESE PEOPLE ARE TOO YOUNG AND STUPID TO BE POLICE OFFICERS!
THEY SAY THEY DIDN'T SEE IT AND

YET DON'T HAVE ANY PROOF, ETC.
MY MUM WAS BASHED HEAPS OF TIMES! DID THEY DO ANYTHING?!
SOMEONE WAS HELD AT KNIFEPOINT WHILE THEY BURGLED THEM.
WERE THE POLICE THERE??
MY DAD WAS SEXUAL ABUSING ME. -GUESS WHAT?! THEY WANT TO DO IT THEMSELVES!
HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OF HEAPS OF POLICEMEN RAPING YOUNGER WOMEN THEN THREATENING TO GET THEM IN TROUBLE IF THEY TELL?!

The nearest police station is NOT far at all! I call one hour later, ask what is taking so long, and they have no idea what I am talking about, and I have to call them and tell them over and over again- 'cause they keep losing 'their records'!
It's just not worth it!
This is a reason why I don't like Australians!

w/o having to worrie about stupid people like your self trying to get them into trouble)!!!
-Can you spell??! (Eg. it's 'worry' and 'yourself')
How do I get them into trouble?!
Looks like I'm not the stupid person here, 'smoothsophie'!

JAG, you said- In progess calls, people under the influence of drugs, domestic calls, gta's, and anything with mention of a weapon gets priority.
OF COURSE I FRIGGIN KNOW THAT!
AND THERE *HAS* BEEN INVOLVEMENT OF ALCOHOL, SPIKE-STICKS, KNIFES, CLUBS, BASEBALL BATS, WHIPS, ETC!
THEY JUST BASE IT ON PERSONAL OPINION ON WHETHER THEY BELIEVE YOU OR NOT. MY DAD PUTS ON A FAKE ACT, LISTENS TO HIM AND DON'T EVEN BELIEVE PEOPLE THAT ARE UNDER 18-EVEN IF THEY HAVE PROOF!

robb c, I CAN get my life together, but some people are not willing to help.
LoL! I'm only 16. I don't drink. I don't want to be like those people who drive drunk and then kill a little kid and get away with it. It is spelt 'probably'- is YOUR brain alcohol-numbed? What makes you think that anyway? Are you talking about yourself? I HAVE made statements, went to court. My boyfriend (or at the time) is/was NOT abusive.
I don't work let alone play bingo.
I think you need to get your facts straight before you start judging someone!
You are the one who is making up stories!

In the October 2006 issue of 'DOLLY, there is a 5-page special on sexual assault.
Australians will know what I am talking about (also about the cop subject).
On page 38, it says "But, too often people don't come forward because they're embarrassed or they're afraid that they will end up being treated differently or discriminated against because they have made a complaint"-that is SO true! You pour your heard out to the constables, and they just make jokes about you, give their own nasty opinion, don't believe you and if they do or not, don't do anything about it!
"Sometimes victims are even told they 'asked' for it because of the way they dressed or behaved-but harassment is wrong and there is absolutely no excuse for it."
And in a real-life story on page 40 about a girl falling pregnant to a rapist, she says "I've heard of so many cases of girls being raped and the police couldn't do anything to help."

Now, what do you think of that??
A national #1 life magazine is just helping me back my point!

Now I don't want any name-calling to me! (You know who you are!) Say it my face if you have the guts. I have definitely told the police what I think of them! A nice cop the other night also agreed about his fellow co-workers!
Now, probably unless you're Australian, you wouldn't know what I am talking about... John Howard is always going on about how the law is not proper, and people refuse to do their protecting jobs!

Yes, Clydesdale, these things HAVE happened-and the police never arrived, or did WAY too late! (And also deny ever getting a call about it-how Disoragnized, lazy liars!)
Then they be smart to ya when you complain about it, and say they don't need to be there if they don't want to!

Have I mentioned they also encouraged a sick woman to kill a cat?!

READ EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID FIRST!!

Most will do the best they can under difficult circumstances. It is sort of a thankless job, because
Laws seem to favor the Criminal.

Yes, there is plenty of room for improvement. As long as
drugs rule the streets there isn't much chance of good
people being able to walk their streets without danger
of grave harm.

The drug gangs shoot without regard of where the bullets will hit, such as through walls of homes to kill innocent people.

It isn't safe to let children play in their own front yard as
they can be swept into a vehicle before anyone knows it.
These kids don't have much of a chance to be found alive.

where do you live? Your police department could be understaffed.

Well in california you have to pass several tests to get a chance to become an officer. Most officers have their degree from a four-year university, at the very least. Yes, some can be "smart-arses" but do you know how many people ask "mr.obvious" questions, dont actually have an emergency, or are "smart arses" to them.
If an officer arrives three hours later, it's because it wasn't an emergency. In progess calls, people under the influence of drugs, domestic calls, gta's, and anything with mention of a weapon gets priority. Although your car being broken into with the stereo gone, may be an emergency, it's a report call with no suspect information or solvability. Basically it's a report for an insurance company.
Officers take statements from witness's and reporting parties, and do follow-up unless it is so busy that they have to clear the call they are on to assist on a priorty call. They will complete the report if they dont follow-up, and a detective will eventually get the report, who will then complete that follow-up.
Most officers will not avoid work; however, they will avoid bull**it calls because a lot of peoples calls can be solved without police involvement.
A good example is the call I have went to countless times. A mom calls 911 for an "emergency" because her 7 year old child is out of control, and wont listen to her. When did police officers become child psycologists. Parents need to learn to raise their kids, we cant do it for them. Do what most parents did 10 years ago, and whoop their ass when they talk back and dont listen. CPS wont get involved as long as you dont knock your kid out or something crazy like that.
Officers may contact people who have not' done anything, and check them for warrants/ parole and probation status, which they do with all people. Criminals dont have a "look." If they did wouldn't I be "profiling?"
What would happen if there were ZERO police in your city.
Answer: Anarchy.
And, you may end up calling on those useless police officers to help you the next time you have a legitimate emergency which would make them useful.

All right FriendlyFairGirl,

First off, I have no idea who made up that 'donuts' and 'pig' story then involved Law Enforcement to it. I irk every time I hear that same old story on here - as my counterparts find it essential to flog down a dead horse - so to speak. Or laugh and later on shake my head - I can't afford to care anymore and there has to be a decent explanation here:

1. Just because 10% are wrong doesn't evenly add to the rest 90% hardworking and commendable Officers who put their lives on the line to protect you day and night on.

2. If it wasn't for these guys, you'd probably never make it of your house to the local convenience store to buy a midnight snack without some violent man shooting bullets at ya!

3. You seem very determined with hatred for these guys and if what you say is true, then I probably won't even blame you for it. HOWEVER, please allow me to give you an insight that you evidently don't want/appreciate: not ALL Police Officers are like what you've described... I'm sure I don't live anywhere near you (BC?) Well, it's because Officers here are what I consider the best ever. They are at scene when you need them, don't look at you as if you've knocked your head and have your brain sticking out and mostly, you can trust them.

4. It's a profession they are willing to have, where people hate you at the sight of your uniform or run off.

5. We depend on all kinds of people... doctors - our dry cleaner - lawyer - strangers - friends - family - Police Officers - dentist and the list goes on endlessly... and sometimes you can't.

6. I'm 16 - and again I won't bother blaming you - I believe you - ever since I was a little kid I've listened to the Officers who came to my school and talked about safety, drugs etc. Still my classmates are addicts now, who can I blame? The Officers for teaching me the right path? For providing me safety? And ever since, I've respected them, just wanting to make them proud. Once you get to know what crap they take - you won't bare hating them.

7. You'll get what you give.

8. There are countless a******* in this world and you'll meet one everywhere you'll go.

9. A thousand enemies standing outside of your house are better then one within - and honestly, I can relate to you.

10. And again, please don't come to conclusions if you haven't seen them all. If you meet all Officers and they all turn out like jerks - then let me know... you can have the Honor of breaking my trust.

Having said that, I don't care what negative things most people have to say here... it's your opinion and I have no right to smart-talk you till pull a trigger on me - I'd do that, but I can afford the guilt.

Listen now Friendly..., God doesn't put something in front of you that he doesn't - mean - to be there. He never gives you more then you can handle. And that is the beauty of life... it can always be worse... take care of yourself and please stay strong and safe, life has much to offer; only waiting for your ignorance to fade. Let someone guide you, do you have a Hero? - That would be great!

(Overall, the Police aren't useless, only people calling for useless reasons ex. the pay phone ate my quarter :)

Regards! - Maryam (hidden)

Here's a thought....just because you call the police and tell them something happened and Joe Bad Guy did it, the cops still have to be able to prove it in court. Your word against Joe's usually won't cut it. And, are the police always to blame if someone cuts a good deal or doesn't get arrested at all? If memory serves correctly, judges, juries and attorneys also have a say in that.

The police are useless! You could probably get by with robbing a bank Thur the drive through just as long as you are buckled up. If any crime has to be investigated and a little effort has to be done, don't expect the police to put this effort out. You will have to do it yourself by hiring private detectives. But if you aren't rich enough to do that, then you are S.O.L. The police are good at DUI check points, where they pull you over & see if you are buckled up, driving drunk & etc. By the way isn't that intrapment?

You must be an ignorant lawbreak to think that way!!! I know lots of cops. It's people like you that make thier jobs hard. You call them name give them a hard time ect. ect. ect.
They have to babysit kids when their parents can't take care of them (help me my 9 yr old is out of control) or Come tell my neighbor to turn down their music because I'm too afraid to ask them too. Or my neighbor blew leves into my yard. Or my ex-wife won't pay child support, how about this one--- A guy calls 911 because his ducks died, because he was too stupid to put them in a pin at night and a coyote got to them. But he called the police to do an investigation.. How about getting yelled at for stoping a car from speeding 20 mph over the limit. They get told to go do some real police work!! Guess what they do every day. If the world weren't so full of stupid people they could follow up on real reports and statements. They wouldn't have to blow off the "stupid" calls and go take care of the woman who was just assualted by her husband for the 3 time this week. Or go arrest the guy that just raped his 15 year old step-daughter. Or take a report from someone that was just stabbed. Or arrest drug deals and dope smokers and burglars, theifs, wife beaters, child molesters, stalkers, punk kids, loud music player, drunk drivers, bar fighters, barking dogs, window breaker, crazy drivers. The list goes on and on and on. So next time you want to make comments about the police why don't you get your stories straight. If people didn't abuse the police then try to sue them everything they didn't do something you want them to then maybe they could do thier job's the right way (w/o having to worrie about stupid people like your self trying to get them into trouble)!!!

They get so many calls. But, when an emergency gets ignored there is no excuse. I was at a store that was being robbed and a call was placed. They never arrived. I wonder what they do if crooks didn't make stupid errors or get caught in the act.

wow, you really have a lot of anger, if you are so upset with the police in your town, move to another! But, in my experience, when a department receives many calls for the same thing from the same place and nothing ever changes....it gets really old having to deal with the same dysfunctional family over and over. If things are so bad for you at home, and you are underage, go to your school counselor and have them call CPS. If you are an adult, MOVE OUT

Tell them to their face. I think if you really had a problem you would be addressing it through the department of family and children services, or filing a complaint with the police department. Your comments would suggest that you are immature and need better reasoning skills to solve your problems. The police and very aware of possible negligent torts based on failure to act, failure to protect. So if there was probable cause nobody would risk their career to deprive you of the protections allowed by law.

Dear Fairgirl, it appeares to me that you may have had a hard trot in life to date. i have empathy for you that you cannot get your life together. It takes a brave person to live their life and find something to do than sitting around yr housing commision house with nothing more to do than cook up stories in your alcohol nummbed brain, i really feel for your 9yo child who will grow to emulate its houso mother and be a drain on society.

what you need to do is ask yourself why the cops dont believe you.. you proberbly did get assaulted. you also proberble were not willing to make a statement and go to court."u still loved yr abusive boyfriend' or something Or 'cause u had bingo on or it was 'PAYDAY' and u had to get a fix of H.

what you need to do is stop being a victim, you obviously have nothing else going for you, find a goal in life. Get over it!!
