In January this year - 2006 my CD4 count was 130 from 2 in May last year - 2005 but I went for my second CD4 Test last week Friday and I was called in to my doctors to retake the test this Tuesday 29th August, 2006, because they found it had gone down to 21.
My question is will the B Sample most likely mirror the A Sample and second question is: I feel great, good weight etc, but how will my doctor re prescribe my medication. What should she be re engineering and re prescribing so that my CD4 count goes up again.

Ofcourse I am worried but because I feel great I am just wondering if in the world of AIDS drugs if my time is up or is there still alot of hope. I want to live a healthy life till 80. I mean I look great and very much like a normal human being whose just cruisin and living life to the fullest.

Please answer doctors.

Magic Johnson is also HIV positive. But his early battles were fought with the wrong doctors. The trick is to get a caring doctor who has satisfied patients who progress.. The regiment of drugs is never the same for everyone. The caring doctors will actually give you test drugs to find your target area. Guess what, those test drugs are free. This will lead them you to the regiment of drugs (cocktail) that is best for your body. Rejection of drugs will cost you, so get a good doctor who cares, because God also cares.

Your CD4 count could have dropped. Medication resistance might be a factor. Your doctor has likely ordered resistance testing with your most recent labs and if that low CD4 was not a lab error, the doc will probably address the issue with a change in your medication therapy. It's hard to say specifically which meds she should use. It depends on your medication history.

It's wonderful that you're feeling great and not very likely at all that your time is up and I'm sure that you are, in fact, a normal human being. People are feeling better while they live much longer and this is the rule now not the exception. So follow up with your doc, continue taking your meds on time and as prescribed. Don't miss doses. The medications really work for getting CD4 counts up and viral load levels down!!!

Bad habits, such as smoking, too much drinking or taking or abusing drugs, not eating right, etc might be what stops you from hitting 80 at a cruise.

If you are on Lamivir-S and Efaverenz thats a good combination.
If your CD4 have gone down.... It could mean a concommitant infection or drug resistance.
Repeat the CD4 count, Chk the viral load also. Investigate for any other infection.
Meet the doctor for drug resistance. I am sure within few years there should be some cure for the disease. Hang on till then.
All the best. Its not how long you live that matters... Its how well you live.

Hi! First of all, I applaud your openness and willingness to search out the best way(s) to improve your health and live your life to the fullest vs. letting "the dis-ease" run your life. Your "positive attitude" is actually doing wonders for your body, so keep doing what you're doing. I'm not sure how much your medications are costing you but I just want to let you know there is a natural, reasonably economical way to keep HIV/AIDS at bay. It's even in the Physicians Desk Reference for Non-Prescription Drugs and Dietary Supplements (PDR). If you'd like more information, I'd be happy to discuss this with you. No, I am not a doctor but I've met others who are living with HIV/AIDS and they have "literally" changed their lives because of this God-given alternative. I'll be on the look-out for your email. Peace and blessings...

I am not a doctor and I have no idea about HIV medication. I just wrote to say that your doctor will probably know the answers to your questions and you shouldn't worry too much, because h/she will know what to do. If you are not sure, get a second opinion, but if you are feeling fine it means he/she is doing a good work. I wish you the best, I am sure that the current medical advances will allow you to live a long and normal life.
