If you want a 1911 frame .45 auto, then I would suggest a Kimber. The fit and finish of a Kimber are great. They are built to such high tolerances, that even the entry level Kimber is comparable to a custom shop pistol. There are other custom gun makers that are excellent, with an excellent price tag too, such as: STI, Wilson Combat, and Les Baer. ParaOrdnance and Springfield(Loaded models) are other excellent choices. If you want another style, then I would suggest SigSauer. The P220 is a great weapon. Sig also makes a 1911-style pistol called the GSR, it is a phenomenal shooter. H&K 45's are good, but we call them the "aircraft carriers" because the top of the slide is so huge, you can land an airplane on them. Glock's are good shooters and very dependable, but a lot of people don't like them because of the cant of the grip, I for one. All in all, I prefer the Sig P220 because of its accuracy, ergonomics, and a great factory warranty and customer service.

Probably Para Ordnance. I like Glocks, but some people find the Glock Model 21 too bulky. The Sig 220 is ok, but holds less ammo than the Glock. H & K makes an excellent .45acp but is higher dollar than the Glock and Sig. Again, some people find the H & K to be too bulky.
The 1911 type (Colts, Kimber, etc.) remains single-action on the first shot. Para Ordnance makes 1911 type .45s in modern stainless steel, double-action only, or conventional single-action on first shot, single-stack magazines or double for increased ammo capacity. They also offer it in blue-steel. So you have a wide choice of finishes and styles.
Although I don't currently own a .45acp I am told by people who do own the Para that it is the best, most accurate pistol they have ever shot.

Les Baer and Kimber are top of the line.
SIG is also a great brand,I have the 220 and PRO
Glock is OK-I don't like the feel.
My old Springfield 1911 was sloppy-I said old
Colt is good-I had a combat Commander and Gold Cup
Llama is a good inexpensive 1911
I have owned all of the above

All companies make good guns it’s just some make them better the others. It depends on what you want to get and what feather you are looking for and usage too. Pistols come in two forums, 1911 style and double action type. I prefer the double action type (DOA) because they give you more safety, more cartridge capacity and cause I had better experience with them.
The two brands which are I reckon will be Taurus and GLOCKS both are name brand and in the middle when it comes to price range and high in quality both offer life time warranties and have 10+ bullet capacity on their .45 .
also look at the springfeild XD .45 thats going to be my next gun

If you're looking into a traditional 1911 model, then look into Kimber. Everyone thinks they are the best.
For non-1911, Sig makes the P220 calibered for the .45, which I've also heard is one of the "best out of the box" in terms of accuracy.
