There is no rational explanation for the madness of the Final Solution. At the time of the Holocaust, the Jews were stripped of their possessions, walled in ghettos, powerless and docile. They had no power, no land, nothing. The Jews were not a danger to Hitler's rule.
Hitler ordered the killing, because he believed that the Jews were his powerful enemies, bent on destroying him.

Hitler viewed them as a lesser race, I guess. They weren't Aryan. He felt they were to blame for all of Germany's problems. And I believe, when Hitler applied and was rejected at art school, there were Jewish members on the panel that made the desicion to reject his application. In a documentary I saw recently, Hitler failed to get in because he could not draw humans. His portfolio consisted primarity of landscapes. Maybe, if he'd been able to draw the human form, he wouldn't have gotten into politics and history might have been quite different.

to creat the illusion that it was someone's fault. He didn't really hate Jews but in Europe, they've always been a minority and not well respected. He just built on that so that it was someone's fault for all the things that were not working smoothly within the country. It then got out of control but because it worked for him, he never once felt bad about it.

he believed they were the cause of all the evil in the world. He also saw them as racially inferior.

But if you want to have a better picture of why, read Hitlers Book Mein Kampf. It is full of propaganda but it is well written, from the historical perspective it will help you answer many questions you may have.

He killed Jews because he blamed them for the issues facing his nation(s) after World War I.
However, he did not just target Jews. He also killed Catholics, homosexuals and lesbians, Gypsies, the mentally ill (now that's the pot calling the kettle black) and anyone who was against him. He was vile, evil, and we each should give our lives that it never, never happens again.
