closed relationships are so boring - people always looking for the one person to make their life complete. But with divorce rates and splitting ups so high, it is really obvious that "The one" just does not exist!
Open relationships are more honest, you realise that nobody is going to tick all of your boxes, so you are more open to having several people fulful your needs.
Open relationships are becoming more popular!

An open relationship meaning both are free to have relationships with other people? What's the point of a relationship in the first place then?
Well call me old fashioned, but a relationship in the way you are referring to consists of two people. I wouldn't want anyone else.

What's the point on being in a relationship? Relationships can be so amazing if you find that right person, if you still wanna see other people then obviously you haven't. I don't care who a person is when they say that they don't mind an open relationship cuz we live life with our hearts and there's no amount of Hardness that you wouldn't be some sort of hurt if your man was to be with someone else.

Depends on the circumstances of the individual relationship. If it is agreed as open at the outset - well fine. If, however, it is the resort of a couple later on when the "spark" has dimmed - not fine. In the latter case there is already likely to be uncertainty in the relationship and this approach would more likely be the breaker than the maker.

Well I don't have an open relationship but another groovy arrangement. My Girlfriend is bi and a few times in the last couple of years we've both ended up in bed with a third girl. She's happy with it because she fancies the girl, I'm happy with it for obvious reasons and we both know that it's just a bit of fun. We trust each other. It's never planned, just seems to happen on the spur of the moment on drunken nights out!

The word "relationship" implies love, trust, and fidelity. "Open" implies none of those things. Either have casual sex with a guy or be in a real relationship, because if a man loves you, chances are he won't be into sharing you, and he will want YOU when he wants sex, not just random vagina.

Yeah, not the ideal situation really. Isn't that what the person who wants to sleep around asks for? While some poor sucker sits at home waiting!
If they're both happy to sleep about, why call it a relationship?

An open relationship is just another term for casual sex, it is not a relationship.

That can only ideally suit people who have no emotion involved, just sex, a lonely existance if you ask me, sex is something... but meaningless sex with several people has to lose its fantasy appeal surely?, i know i wouldnt want it, i'm actually curling my lip in distaste, i really dont like the idea of that at ALL, maybe young men or women who have never felt a one on one love, and been monogamous,willingly..anyon can have great sex, and have one night stands, or thread people along... but its something else when its great sex AND love to go with it excluding all others.
playboy/girl lifestyle, not for me

Rules
It only suits certain people often only for a certain period in their life. It may work well for them but not necessary for always
There has to be ground rules as well... And there is the danger of feelings developing for others.
Have to be very good at safe sex
