I've have seen recently answers that are so long that it's impossible for those people to have typed it all within 5 minutes. Do they copy and paste things from websites? If so, I think that's unfair. Too much to read. Just give us the link.

I admit, I've been guilty of this a few times myself. I guess it is because this really isn't set up to be an ongoing debate type of a forum. Once you make your answer there is no effective way to go and refute things other people might say in response. So, sometimes you can get long-winded trying to provide all of the possible evidence that your answer is best.

I've gone back and forth as to whether or not it is a good idea to cut and paste or just provide a link. I don't think very many people will click on the links, but then again, I don't think very many people will read a long line of cut and paste. I think I have decided the best thing to do is make your case in your own words and then provide a link just in case someone might want more info.

No. hahahaha

Well, some people might, I guess. Most of the questions on here is the same questions over and over again. I made up several, several notes. I cut & paste a lot. I'm not going to explain a question with 1/2 Truth. That is the worst a person can do.
Some of mine may be long, but if they are, it is for a reason. I would rather a person not read it at all and not know truth, as opposed to reading 1/2 truth and believing a 1/2 lie.

Good Question.

Now I'd have to argue with that. I've seen lost of people complaining about it. It's just not there.

If you want to find a answer of sorts you'd have to have been here about two years ago. With electricity prices going up people tried to shelter thems selves in side and didn't have much to do. They were inside because it was the winter. With so much time they made there answers longer partly because they were so bored and had so much time and partly because they were hoping in getting lots of best answers.

That's only what some people believe. Others think that must people just are in a hurry so the answers seem longer. "There just in a hurry." says one source.

Also that arouses the question why are you asking this about it. Is it only because you can't ask longer questions?

In conclusion, have some support. Myself, I like long questions

There is a lot of copy and paste going on. I asked a similar question, and I have to say I can't agree that some answers should take you a half a day to scroll through, that's for sure. I just skip those anyway.

Sometimes it is only necessary to copy paste a portion of what is on text since it may be the only of relevance. If you want the link, you'll end up reading it anyway. It doesn"t matter if it is unfair or not if the person asking gets their answer, in my opinion.

While I mostly agree with you, there are some people that won't click on links so to ensure they get the information they requested, people do copy/paste.

Oops! that might have been me.
I tend to get on a roll and just go with it.
I do type nearly all of my answers in actual response to the question.

Perhaps I should have just answered this Sorry and got my 2 points.

God Bless You, ;-)

Yes they copy and paste....usually someone else's (uncredited) writing. It is annoying, often has little to do with the question, and some keep posting the same thing to every question.

If you feel someone said it better than you could, then give them the credit at least.

They are only trying to help you. If you don't want such helpful answers, make sure you state as much at the end of your question.
The answerer will not waste much time and energy on helping you then.

Thanks!
