The reason I put this question here is that I know that...
If people know of the existence of an evil personality, Satan, they will consider running to God...
Let me add this:
Satan is happy to see many people not believing that he exists because he would be able to use them properly.
Satan is happy if people justify all wrong-doing e.g. homosexuality, abortion, fornication, lying, cheating, swearing and all immoral activities because he knows that wrong-doing is a DOOR-WAY for him to destroy them.
Look at what people in hell will be saying when Satan joins them:
Isaiah 14:15-17
"Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
"They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee(Satan), and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
"That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?"

You know for sure that satan exists? Is there something you know that the rest of humanity doesn't? Because there is no way to prove satan exists, just as there is no way to prove that god exists. Same goes for the non-existence of both.
For me, satan is used as an excuse to label and justify what you deem "wrong-doings" (though homosexuality is a natural occurence and not a "wrong-doing" as you neo-con fundies believe). Fornication (sex, for those who aren't privy to large words), is fun and great. It shouldn't be relegated to procreation alone.
Throwing bible quotes out isn't going to validate your point - at least to those who don't believe.
And if there is a satan - I'll run to the first appropriate diety I feel comfortable with - the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Let His Noodly Appendage touch thee!
But, I don't believe in satan and so I need not pull the FSM card out.

What you see is not as real as God. What you see should prove to you there is a God. If you try and tell me we just became without a creator then you need to go rethink some things. Ask any athiest how the whole universe came about to exist and I mean every galaxy, planet and star, also the ones still being created. Ask how the earth has one set speed it is to turn and one set speed to rotate around the sun. Also the sun is just at the right distance for life to be sustained here on earth which includes billions of diverse lifeforms (That according to athiests just popped out of nowhere or crawled out of the Ocean). Is it all just coincedence? Also ask them to get an empty mason jar and set it in their house and go back to the jar 20 or 30 years later or more if needed and see whats in it..........you know what would be in it? Still nothing. You have to have a Creator and it scares athiests.
Also for the big bang theory supporters........where did the material that went bang come from and the energy to make it go BANG? I'll tell you, God created it and he may have made a "BIG BANG" out of it to put it where he wanted it I won't dispute that because the Universe is still expanding. All in all the athiests have too many questians to answer themselves that the Bible already explains. I'd rather believe there is a God and die and if there isn't I will then lose nothing but if there is a God and Creator and I've argued to people he isn't then I lose alot. Think it over friend. Are you really sure about denying God? The evidence is against you. The Bible, the only Holy written word of God explains all things past, present and future. There is no excuse for not having the knowledge, it's there.

Actually Satan can be proven by the mere reason people try to disprove Christ. If you need proof the Bible has plenty. The era has passed where there were "witnesses" to God and Jesus. The Bible was written by just a handful of them. Satan pays more attention to Christians and less on those who're already lost and headed to his doorstep. It's like a car salesman who already sold something to people still lingering in a store, he's not gonna bother with them but other shopper who've yet to buy something.
We're the ones wearing big red targets in his eyes. The one's who have our items but since the Rapture's not come yet and we're hear waiting, Satan want's to sawy us into his wants and needs for the time being. If you need proof, just look around.Read the Bible. Both good and evil are all around us. And if you think Satan's a fellow who'll reward wrong doers keep studying your scriptures. It shows even those who make deals with him suffer for all the rest of eternity.
Satan's....well....he's Satan purgatory is like a beach front vacation compared to those who end up in hell.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

I guess you're just not mature enough to see that none of the gods exist. I'm an atheist simply because I have the intelligence to believe in one less 'god' than you do. When you understand why YOU reject all other gods, then you'll understand why I reject them all.
All religions are is a control method. There's no freedom to be had there, only backward brain-washing. Fortunately, despite years of Sunday school, it didn't wash with me.

But your question already assumes that Satan exists, which is circular reasoning. For a thorough attempt at explanation, starting from zero, look at C.S. Lewis' book "Mere Christianity"--I am not advocating it per se, but his goal is to seek a definition of God and "rival conceptions of God" that don't start by assuming that there is a Satan.

As to devil, properly in case you suspect that god exists then needless to say you will have confidence that devil exists, and vice versa. the two are entertwined, won't be able to have confidence that one exists and the different does not...

I feel that the devil does exist, because there is no peace in this world. All badness comes from the devil. I tell my 15 year old son that when he feels the devil taunting him, which the devil does, just keep saying over and over I love you God, I love you God.My beautiful God will be there and the devil can never penetrate the power off the almighty. so much sadness in this beautiful world I cant wait for God to come back down and get rid of the d

Hope Dollar,
I've been to Hell. But that's not your question, is it?
You speak correctly when you say, " Satan is happy to see many people not believing that he exists."
If they knew that he existed, and saw him with spiritual eyes, they would refrain from associating with him.
Alas, the demonic world has been commanded to act covertly, to control the high places, especially in governments.
But God gives us His understanding so that we know that Satan's ways are abounding in the world.
Greater is He who is in us, than he that is in the world.

Satan killed far less people in the bible than God did. If someone could prove to me that Satan existed I doubt I would run to God. You should take some science classes.
