One of the fun things I like to do with out-of-towners is take them to a TV show taping. This is the perfect time of year since many shows are just starting back up with taping. It is usually free and something they probably don't get to do at home.

Then you can visit Farmers Market, the Grove, the LA County Museums, the tar pits, etc. Try to show them stuff that is really unique to LA. And stuff that everyone always wants to know about! Like the Hollywood sign! You know the drill!

Good luck!

Since so little time I would suggest Universal Studios everyone enjoys seeing that. Then around Hollywood take them a tour through Beverly Hills. After they see Cancun Southern California beaches do not compare so just show them later down to Orange County.

Are they from the coast? If so, you might want to skip the beaches as they are going to see plenty of that while in Cancun.

Hollywood is a great idea and lots of people want to see the Walk of Fame & the Chinese Theatre. Also Griffiths Observatory - is open yet? It really depends on what they're into. La Brea tar pits, the museums, maybe Disneyland (tho I prefer Magic Mtn)

I think everyone here has some great suggestions. I would just like to add that I had a friend from Australia come visit, and he absolutely loved everything Americana and Hollywood. So go ahead and cheese it up!

Zuma beach (where Baywatch was filmed), Rodeo Drive (right there in Beverly Hills), Disneyland, The Los Angeles Zoo, and the Getty Museum.

Go straight to the beach towns, Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan. Great beach bars and restaurants, a sea, sand and surf culture...a tourist destination for more than 100 years but not Disneyfied yet. Rent bikes and tour the Strand, go out on a half day fishing boat and eat lots of sea food. Shop in the Riviera Village closeby. Its likely if you visit one of the beach bars the bartender will ask your visitor if he/she knows his cousin in Sydney. Lots of Aussies there and very well liked. Have fun.

Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, maybe a theme park (Magic Mountain or Knotts are the best choices). L.A. Rocks, so it's gonna be easy. Take them to Rodeo Drive, it's amazing.
