I recently asked a question about my neighbors dog going to the bathroom on their deck and it coming down onto mine below. The management after several notices, about the proper potty areas ie not the deck, has told them to get rid of the dog or vacate the premises because they are in violation of their lease. And now they are claiming this is a guide dog and that they have the right to keep the dog surely this is a ploy to keep the dog .Does anybody know the laws about guide dogs or has she found a loophole that allows her to let her dog poop and pee all over the place. And what can I do? Dont I have any rights here?

How do I prove this is not a guide dog?

A "guide dog" has to be a trained service dog, for either a sight- or a hearing-impaired person.

Every jurisdiction has its own laws. Without looking, however, I'm sure you can't just upgrade your household pet to guide dog status.

Guide dogs are supplied by registered charities like The Seeing Eye. Look at their FAQ, linked below.

I'm trying to find an answer online, and will edit if I find anything, but no luck yet. If it is a *true* Guide dog... if the people can't *see* the poop, I'd say cut 'em a little slack... I personally would go over and clean up *for* them. But if they're really blind, then shouldn't they have friends and/or reletives coming to check on them? They should deal with it to keep the peace. Ah, well... still looking!
