Define abuse - - - it is a tough nasty job but in as much as the Marines is comprised primarily of minorities one would expect they treat everyone fairly. It is possible that Muslims might struggle a bit, America is rapidly becoming The Christian States of America, and practicing Jews are pretty much unheard of in any branch of the service other than the Army and the Air force. Christian Asians are definitely in in a big way with many top command posts being held by Americans with Japanese and Chinese heritage. Peace.

Who have you been talking to? I've lived my entire life in the military. My dad was in for more than 20 years and I've been a military spouse for the last 9 years. The military is so diverse and really the best environment as far as tolerance goes. I do not think you'll have any problems as an asian or a muslim. The military caters to all faiths. On our base alone there are services for every faith. That includes a muslim service and even a pagan service.
If you seriously want to join I wouldn't let stupid rumors by ignorant people stop you.

When you are in Marine Corps Boot Camp, Everyone is treated EXACTLY the same. There are only dark green and light green recruits.
When you get to your duty station, there are only dark green, and light green Marines.

They are treated just as everyone else is. There is no color in the Marines, everyone is Green. You will be treated as everyone else is. You will think they hate you, but they hate everyone in Boot Camp. When you get to the fleet, the Marine Corps duty stations, you will be a brother. Your fellow Marines will rely on you to be there for them, just as you will be rely on them to be there for you.

The military services are very good accepting minorities. There are stupid people everywhere but the military is pretty color blind. If you speak the language you'll be in very good shape.

You should be fine as long as you don't try to convert others while on duty. And I would say that to anyone whose religion might get in the way of performing their duty.
