Ok so i get panic attacks sometimes. I don't watch any horror movies at all ever since I got panic attacks, but i can still remember the ones that i've watched before and i freak myslef out thinking it's gonna happen to me for ex. the exorcism, how do i stop thinking about them at night so i won't scare myslef all the time and give myself a panic attack?

ur question made me chuckle and for that i apologise as u obviously do get very scared.
it is important to remember that film studios spend alot of money in special effects to ensure that their viewers do get scared and for the most part that is the point of the film.
b4 special CGI effects were avaliable the emphasis was on suspense and the build up to a horror event. the blood and guts scenes were comically called 'the tomato ketchup bits' cos all the blood was effect blood.
as CGI became better and better the effects became more and more realistic but the effects are always just that, 'effects'.
the more believeble a film the more believeable the effects and the thus again the more believeable the film and so it goes on.
when u watch a scary movie take the story of the horror and scariness with a pinch of salt and remember (if ur at the movies or renting the DVD) that YOU are paying to be frightened as an escape from the normal daily activities (eating, working, cleaning etc). when the movie is finished thats it, finished. if, what was depicted in movies, was actually true, i think we'd be enslaved by ghosts/demons/aliens etc by now dont u? well obviously we're not and movie stuff is just make believe.
when u rent a movie, take the time to watch the 'how it was made' extra footage on the non-film DVD BEFORE you watch the film. then as u watch the film, you will still enjoy it but your scared levels will be less because you will know how the effects were created and thus obviously not real.
i hope this helps.
dont have nightmares.

I have the same problem. I have a real bad anxiety disorder. I can't watch ghost or horror movies at night. Have you seen the Exorcism of Emily Rose. If you have, remember how she woke up at exactly 3am. 3am was the hour of jesus' death. Ever since i am worried that im going to get possesed or something and i rarely ever go to sleep before 3am because well, im an insomniac for one but i also have a fear that im going to get posessed. It's all in my head but its still very scary to me. I always get pictures of monsters or vampires or ghosts or something in my head and i look behind my shoulder constantly. I keep thinking that the image is going to come to life and come around the corner and come after me. So I know how you feel. I'm thinking about discussing this with my doctor to see if she can do anything about it. I recommend you do the same.

Separate the real from whats not real. I think all you need to do is get a hobby or something that you can dive into that is positive and fun . You are in charge of your mind not outside influences , remember that .

I'm not a doctor, but I would suggest, get the scariest movie out there and watch it over and over again.... Desensitize yourself to it, a brown paper bag might help you from hyperventilating.
