when i get bummed, i like to listen to music...usually upbeat stuff, like dance music. but i also like slow, somewhat sad songs too like rem's "everybody hurts."
also u can try just taking a break from ur studies...walk around, watch a good movie, talk to a friend...or just think about what is bothering u. ...think over the day's events, things in ur life that bother u and u would like to change...think about what u want to accomplish. in addition to getting a good education...u need to learn to understand urself...find ur identity and really know what u like, what u support, what ur limits r, etc. it's possible u feel bummed out about something that u just haven't allowed urself to acknowledge. after u discover what is at the core of ur feelings, u can proceed to the next step of trying to address ur need.
it's normal to feel bummed/lonely now and then...the important thing is that it does not interfere with ur life too much...u should still succeed, accomplish things, be responsible, etc. if u don't, then go see a psychiatrist (not psychologist).

Get out and go for a walk. Say hello to all the people that pass you by even if they don't say hello back. Smile at someone and watch them smile back. Pat a dog. Be grateful that you have two feet attached to two legs and walk where you have never been before. Think about what you have and what you can have. Think about those who don't have and can't have. That should make you smile and be a little more happier. Ring someone you haven't spoken to for a long time. Be interested in someone or something else and you will feel better. The fact that you are thinking about being depressed is making you depressed. Think happy thoughts and eat some chocolate, lots if you are really feeling sad and you will amazingly feel a lot better.
Study when you feel like it not because you have to. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Depression is not something to take lightly. Even if it is not all the time, it still affects the quality of your life. You mention studies. If you are a student, most schools have trained counsellors for this type of problem. They finally realise how big this problem is among young people, and are offering help even if you can't afford to pay. Do you have friends or relatives in the area you can turn to for just plain comfort? If not, group therapy is another good alternative. It allows you to interact whith others who understand what you are going through, so you don't have to feel self-concious. Church is also a great place to turn for comfort and help. God knows and loves you just as you are. He made you and knows what you suffer. He will never turn you away. Whether your problem is new, circumstance-oriented, or longstanding, there are answers. Just don't ever give up lookiing.

Talk to someone you can trust. Find some activities that you find enjoyable and uplifting. Something as simple as going for a walk, or a workout routine can change your spirits. If you find that your feeling down and depressed is lasting more than three weeks, you may need to be treated professionally for clinical depression. If this is the case, and you are prescribed anti-depressants, it can sometimes take two to three weeks after starting the medication before you notice changes in your mood. Best of luck.

how about you start by writing down in a small diary what you are feeling and why you are feeling that way. That will ease up a bit the depression and it make you realize what the real reason is.
Try talking to a freind also and doing what you like most like music, movies, walking, dancing, yoga even,,,,,,just engulf yourself in the best things in life.....
Enjoy Life my friend!
